I just love it. What I really want to know is where is cheery littlebottom? According to mn the name is taken but I've never seen it.
So far I have spotted
MrsTerryPratchett
NannyOgg
Greebo
IShallWearMidnight
TiffanyAching

And quite a few others I can't recall right now.
Who haven't I spotted / remembered and where is cheery?

Oh and yy to pp who said the first books aren't as good because he is finding his voice, he really does grow into his own style through the books (hurrah for reading in order)
Also yy to the greyscale good and bad Nobby, Colon, Moist, Tulip, Wilikins, the villagers who killed the old lady in the Tiffany books.
I often wonder if the Tiffany books would have been different had his dd been a ds!
Has any one read the poo one, I really want to get it for me dd Grin
( right I am actually going to bed, do you think I can ask mnhq to ban me at certain times!)

I'm far too tired to read through, but I'm here and always use this NN other than using a Christmas version for a short while.

sybilvimes · 17/02/2013 15:03

LadySybil and I are actually two completely different posters, but equally fabulous Wink.

There definitely used to be more of us around, but as people name change or leave the names sadly get lost. It's always nice though, to see other disc world friends around

TolliverGroat · 17/02/2013 18:34

MrsTP - I don't think it's on Youtube (and the BBC haven't repeated it since 2009) - it was a 2-parter called Terry Pratchett: Living with Alzheimer's . It might be available via dodgy download sites.

TolliverGroat · 17/02/2013 18:37

Ah, it's on Vimeo

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/02/2013 20:02

Cheers, Tolliver I will peruse later.

ItsallisnowaFeegle · 17/02/2013 20:20

Herrena, I have The World of Poo. It wasn't uploading to my e reader properly and half the page was missing but I've downloaded the Kobo app on my phone and it looks fine on there.

I'll be starting it as soon as I've completed the series of books I'm currently reading.

I'm quite excited about it Grin

Feegle, I was a bit Shock at some of the reviews on amazon.
*snotty voice " I bought this because I have every book he has ever written but frankly it is not up to his usual standard I don't even think children would like it"

Personally I think it sounds like exactly the sort of think children would like (but their parents wish they didn't Wink) and I can't wait to get my grubby mits on it!

SybilVimes are you really! Apologies Smile I thought that because when I first started coming on here I used to see your name quite a bit and hadn't noticed it in a while but I guess all of us can have to spend some time in rl once on a while Smile
I, for instance, should be hanging out washing, doing dishes or practising for the theory part of driving test Hmm
Instead I'm here Grin
it's better than life Wink

The documentary about euthanasia is brilliant, emotionally draining but worth it, he really does deal with it all exceptionally well. I really Envy his pa though!

I didn't know about the sword mrs t!

degutastic · 17/02/2013 21:52

If I knew how to nc, I could become DiseasesOfTheSheep here too. I love that nn but I don't often use that forum any more... Hmmm...

I loved the Discworld PC game Grin And the Luggage, and Death and Binky and Sam Vines and...

I love Tony Robinson's readings of the audiobooks too, he does it so well, and it reminds me of listening to them as a kid in the car the only place I would never be found reading

HerrenaHarridan · 17/02/2013 22:05

I bet you could I bet no one has got that one already. It's in your profile settings Smile

I really neeeeeeed a luggage
Granny is my absolute favourite, no contest'

HerrenaHarridan · 17/02/2013 22:05

I've never played the game, what's it like?

OP posts:
degutastic · 17/02/2013 22:09

I have a profile... oooh, I only ever come in aibu Blush I may be reborn as a tome of ovine infections shortly...

The main thing I remember about the game (which is like a monkey island / kings quest type format - you go around interacting with characters / picking stuff up / using stuff on things etc) is that you end up playing croquet with a stuffed pink flamingo! Grin

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 17/02/2013 22:14

Baaaaaa

TolliverGroat · 17/02/2013 22:16

That is a good name. I feel inadequate now.

Somebloke · 17/02/2013 22:45

There were three discworld games... the first had a lot of involvement from TP, and was a point and click affair starring Rincewind. Voices were supplied by Eric Idle, Jon Pertwee, & Tony Robinson. The main thing I remember it for was the aching, utterly twisted logic of the puzzles. I was 14 or 15 when it came out, and I eventually ended up playing it with a friend, getting utterly stumped and having my Dad download a copy of the walkthru which he cut into sections a sentence or 2 long, and handed over, 1 at a time, in order to stop us just going straight through it.

DW2 was similar (didn't play it, only read reviews) and DW Noir was a looser affair, with less involvement from TP. Covered an ex-watch private eye, investigating the death of a troll nightclub singer.

I doubt you'd be able to find, let alone run, any of them now. Shame really.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 17/02/2013 22:50

I have a copy of II I think (Missing Presumed?? maybe?) in the other room. It doesn't run on my current set of computers though - I tried.

For some reason, Discworld seems to be popular with Teachers Of A Certain Age. A former colleague and I used to love making Discworld references in the classroom and reading Johnny and the Bomb and I Shall Wear Midnight to the children.

I also used to post on the Pratchett newsgroup years ago, and you'd often see posts from Pterry himself.

Happy days...

AScorpionPitForMimes · 18/02/2013 21:51

Nanny what age were the children when you read them I Shall Wear Midnight? Am asking because I waited a while with that one due to the horrible DV in the beginning and the general darker themes. Don't get me wrong, I think it is possibly the best Tiffany Aching book of them all, but when it came out, my DDs were 9 and 7 and I just felt it was a bit too much for them - I waited until they were 11 and 9 and had a bit more TP under their belts. I'd consider it strong stuff, really only suitable for Yr5 upwards. Or am I being precious?

YouBastard · 18/02/2013 22:25

Does anyone recognise this one?? Not sure if i'll keep it though! Grin
