Ambu to be slightly piddled orf because they are wont be selling huggies nappies in the UK and Ireland anymore and eerm didnt tell anyone, shouldnt they have at least put it on the packages. I've spent tons trying to find a nappy which suits my LO finally found one and they wont be making them.

Not U to be annoyed that a useful product won't be available anymore, but YABU for:

(1) not having picked up on this before - was splashed all over the press and these very pages several weeks ago;

(2) expecting a company which has decided that this product and market are never going to work for them to spend extra costs on packaging to give you additional warning, especially when giving more than a few weeks warning would have made their commercial plans public before they were in a position to do so (or for that matter tell people that they were going to lose their jobs!).

Just out of interest, what would you have done differently if there had been warnings on packets a few weeks ago? Switched brand earlier?

theboutiquemummy · 14/02/2013 17:57

I would never have brought them in the first place my child is a newborn

YANBU. I had managed to miss any mention of this too.

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 14/02/2013 18:01

Its been all over lots of websites for months. They won't pay out extra money just to warn people something not profitable enough for them isn't going to be sold here soon. Just change nappies, you would have had to find a different brand if you didn't settle on huggies anyway, its no big deal really.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/02/2013 18:01

They're only stopping sales in the UK so you will probably be able to buy them online.

But I found as the baby gets older and their shape changes, their nappy need changes as well. My DS was in Pampers when he was born and they were great and Huggies leaked, later it was opposite, he is now is Huggies (not for much longer).

minibmw2010 · 14/02/2013 18:01

Really, they won't be selling them anymore?

minibmw2010 · 14/02/2013 18:02

Though I probably missed it as I've used Pampers since DS was born.

madwomanacrosstheroad · 14/02/2013 18:03

Some babies react to pampers (all mine did), i think they use some kind of lotion in them. I did use huggies at times but actually fould lidla own nappies much better (and cheaper) than the rest. Otherwise there are fantastic birth to potty reusable ones available.

MadStaringEyes · 14/02/2013 18:11

YABU, its hardly the end of the world.

CalamityJ · 14/02/2013 18:29

I used to work for Huggies 5 years ago and their research then said they were way behind Pampers in terms of leaks. I'm surprised they lasted this long in the UK market. Before you reply and say they were great for your child yep they probably were which is probably why they lasted this long. But they were never anywhere near Pampers in terms of reliability mass market and that's really where the money is rather than niche appeal. YABU if you think Huggies want to announce this 'failure' and withdrawal from a major market on their packaging. Their sales would nose dive! How would they shift existing stock? A polite quiet announcement on their website and a slink out of the market is more to be expected (which seems to be what they've done).

VodkaJelly · 14/02/2013 18:40

YABU because they are crap. I bought some when my DD was born (6 weeks ago) and they leak all the time. I sometimes have to change her up to 3 times a day due to nappy leakage.

I used pampers on my other DC's when they were little and wish I had bought Pampers, only got Huggies because they were on offer, now I know why.

My health visitor recommended Asda own brand, I have bought some and they seem miles better than huggies and a lot cheaper. I know what I am going to be buying in future.

Bingdweller · 14/02/2013 18:40

Try Lidl Toujours nappies - do the job, half the price, no leaks and not cardboardy like some of the own brands!

AbbyCat · 14/02/2013 18:43

Yabu. Huggies is shit. They leak through the nappy and can't hold half as much wee as pampers.

Their wipes are the best ever.

Their Nappies leaked so easily with dd! We used pampers with ds just because they had a freebie so stuck with them. Although went back to Huggies as dd got bigger. Have stocked up on them too

MrsKeithRichards · 14/02/2013 19:01

I'm loving the tesco everyday value nappies. We normally use cloth but use a disposable over night and when he's at mil when I'm at work and never had a leak yet!

CityMa · 14/02/2013 19:02

Huggies are rubbish IME. Terribly leaky.

Asda's are the best IMO.

OHforDUCKScake · 14/02/2013 19:13

Its new born?

You cant have spent that much trialing all the other nappies then, surely?

MadameOvary · 14/02/2013 19:16

Will the wipes still be available? DD out of nappies now so wasn't aware of this.

Sirzy · 14/02/2013 19:20

I hope they don't stop the wipes I use them for everything.

Ds is out of nappies now but huggies were the best for him

wreckedone · 14/02/2013 19:21

Asda little angels nappies are very similar to Huggies-try them. But I agree, your baby will be better in different brands as they grow-my lad's been through most brands in 20 months!

LST · 14/02/2013 19:59

YABU because huggies are shit imho.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 14/02/2013 20:01

Inalwaysnfound Huggies to be the worse. Very stiff and leaky.mPampers were much better, and Sainsburys

BlackholesAndRevelations · 14/02/2013 20:37

Huggies were awful for my daughter and we've been using pampers baby dry. However I'd be annoyed if they stopped making the wipes! So thick and moist Grin and absorbent!

minibmw2010 · 14/02/2013 20:43

I went off the wipes so quickly ... They were so absorbent they'd fall apart in my hand when I'd try and pull one out of the packet, I'd only get bits of it. I bulk buy the Tesco ones now (the old style blue packet, now that threw me when they changed recently Smile).
