Sick and miserable and no chance if taking a sickie

I have caught the kids cold! When I say cold I mean temp, blocked nose, rattly cough, ears that hurt and achy breaky body.

The kids also have it. One is 3 and the other 18 mths. The youngest has just poured her rice crispies on the carpet I am tempted to just leave it all there and go back to bed.

Aibu to want to call DH and have a good moan for leaving us all with temps and snotty noses and cheerily heading off to work without even asking if I could cope? I know I will cope what choice do I have but when do we ever get to take a sickie? I'm sure this has been done to death but I need some cheering up. Feel a bit sorry for myself!

Have an easy day & rest as much as you can when little ones do. I'm a single parent & when I'm ill I just go easy on myself & do the bare necessities no more.

RedHelenB · 13/02/2013 08:50

Oh & warndh that he is taking over when he gets home so you can go to bed.

Honestly RedHelen I think of single mums everytime I feel overwhelmed and hiss under my breath to man up! It just makes me feel marginally better to blame DH Grin. Have turned on the TV and its not even 9am. Do you think anyone will notice if I die quietly in a corner?

I had this a couple of weeks ago Hmm
Rubbish isnt it?
Made me feel for lone parents as well!
I spent the day doing very little and the babies watched a lot of cbeebies.
Hope your feeling better soon.

Yes it is grim - DH worked away for a period and it really made me realise how much he does in spite of my moaning.

Do the bare minimum and put on cbeebies

You can pull a sickie - there are emergency childcare services who provide nannys - so if you have the cash you could indeed pull a sickie :)

This is me too! But it has been going on for weeks... i just can't throw off whatever it is and I am so poorly and sorry for myself it is untrue!

I am doing very very little round the house and being very grumpy to everyone. Most annoying thing is DH got the bug that I started with, took 3 days off sick where he just lay in bed and was waited on and managed to throw it off. I am tempted to go back to work just so I can get proper sick days!

Hope you feel better soon

Ok well now I feel sheepish. Lovely DH came home from work at lunchtime as he could see how sick I was! Almost burst into tears when he walked into the house. Blush
I have since spent he last 3 hours shivering off a fever in bed and sleeping...have woken up drenched in sweat...still bunged up but getting there.

Would it be wrong to stay upstairs until after the kids have had their dinnerWink

I feel like that today, I tried phoning in sick for my night shift tonight and got told there is no cover. The deputy manager did bring me lemsips though. Grin

No, best to stay in bed until they are asleep then dh could get you a light bite and a cup of tea and you could rest on the sofa and Mumsnet!!! I'm lying on the sofa doing the same and I only have a sniffle. Ds3 (6) is watching sponge bob, feeding me chocolate eggs and passing me tissues. It's great when they get older.
