I really do need to get some exercise into my life but I hate it and will use any excuse not to. I am 42 next week and feel the weight creeping on easier than ever. I do not have an inactive lifestyle but need some help and motivation to start. An exercise class is hard to commit to as I work shifts. What works for you?

Cycling. I always had excuses (kids, too many hills etc) but then when I couldn't drive any more I bought a bike and I've never looked back.

Running. And making commitments to other people to run at a certain time even if it isn't regular. Takes 30 mins - and you can do it anywhere.

In the summer walking with music is bliss. Right now it's the 30 day shred, 20 minutes of your day - easy peasy Smile ignoring the fact I was supposed to start a week ago and haven't

Ipod or your phone will do motivational marvels. I LOATHE exercise and now walk 1 mile a day, a spring in my step.

Swimming for me. Local council run pool with cheap membership for the year. I usually go once or twice a week when its quiet. Really easy way to burn off the calories without really noticing it. I also find my mind just ponders and use it a bit of 'thinking' time. Smile

30 day shred and 6 weeks to a six pack DVDs. It's only 20 mins a day so it's very hard to make excuses.

Aspiemum2 · 10/02/2013 21:34

It's not that hard, trust me Wink

Goldchilled7up · 10/02/2013 21:43

Can you afford a personal trainer?

laluna · 10/02/2013 22:11

Thanks - the shred looks good - will give it go.

I've just ordered The Shred from Play.com and am nervously awaiting its arrival... Planning to do it with a friend, so we can keep each other going! No way I'd stick to it if left to my own wilting willpower.

Good luck, maybe see if you can buddy up with someone too?
