to not know what to do with the car seat?

So, DS has grown out of his car seat and I've bought him a new one but hadn't got round to fitting it yet (was going to do it this weekend). I was going to eBay the old one but the car was involved in an accident a few days - not a bad one but still...I can't sell it now can I? My friend suggested not telling when selling it. I was appalled. But now I don't know what the hell to do with it - I can't even give it away. Is it destined to go into landfill?

If it's been in an accident it needs to be thrown away. You should be able to claim on your car insurance for it, but check what they want you to do with it. (they told us to leave it in the car as it was a write off and going to be scrapped)

Its been in an accident. Please dispose of it - and make sure someone else can't pull it out of the skip and start using it (e.g. cut the straps).

Or you can take it apart, and recycle the plastic parts

Ours hadn't been in an accident but we had already binned the buggy and just put the car seat in the wheelie bin Blush

You can take the covers, hood etc off and sell them separately, some sell very well on Ebay. But as for the seat you ABU to sell as it is dangerous

Take it to the dump

I wouldn't dream of selling it or giving it . I was going to take it to the dump. Thanks for telling me about pulling it apart and for cutting the straps because it didn't even occur to me that people might see it and try to use it - that's made me shudder.

I sold my covers for £25 on Ebay Shock, the rest is being crushed up and landfilled
