to not go on a trip to London with my friends?

My friend has asked our friendship group about a day trip to London, basically most people have said no because they are either working or sahm's.

I am actually off work that day and I asked what we were going to be doing, and she listed a couple of things and I mentioned going to Oxford Street and she said - no I don't enough money to go on a big shop.

Is it me or if you organise a day trip out you should do it so theres parts that everyone likes? Seeing as everyone is paying the same.

I've said no now because I don't have the money. WIBU?

Oxford Street wouldn't be my idea of a day out. So many other things to see. Bit maybe the group could decide by consensus?

If it's a whole day out can you arrange lunch together and split up for part of day so those who want to shop do so while others do something else?

No Punk I don't mean spend the whole day there but there doesn't seem to be any compromise.

Oxford St? Why? There isn't anything there really that you can't get anywhere else.

There's an abundance of Next, Gap, River Island, H&M, Top Shop, McDonalds, subway, Burger King, sandwich shops etc etc and empty shops, shops filled with shitty rubbish, it's crap, busy, noisy, dirty, a continous line of red buses, black cabs, road crossings and so on and so forth, it's just horrible.

OK there's a couple of big department stores, but nothing special.

Just saying.

Why not ask her if she'll go to Selfridges for a look and then do something else?

There's nothing else even on Oxford St that you don't get in your average shopping centre. Except maybe Hare Krishnas.

YANBentirelyU, but expressing a desire to go to Oxford Street (i.e. shopping) and then pulling out because of a lack of money would ring alarm bells with me. Your friend may smell a rat.

If you've never been to London, Oxford Street is very, very disappointing and hugely overcrowded. There are much better shops to be had elsewhere (Westfield, round by Bond Street if you like looking at posh things, Columbia Rd in Shoreditch if you like cute little twee independent shops).

Sir Columbia Road on a Sunday flower market

Regent St is a bit more civilised than Oxford St.
