To love the taste of the bits left at the bottom of a roasting dish

Especially from roast chicken. You know the bits I mean, those sticky, salty congealed bits. I like to leave the pan to cool a bit then run my finger around it. Yum yum.

Anyone else?

AKA - the best bits.

Iwillorderthefood · 06/02/2013 19:37

Yummy

Jayne266 · 06/02/2013 19:37

Yup that's why I always make gravy out of it and seem to have more gravy than anyone else.

ByTheWay1 · 06/02/2013 19:39

Haberdashery · 06/02/2013 20:08

I love the burnt bits of anything, the extra crispy, and I know the bits you mean, I love the chewy salty bits that have welded to the roasting dish yum!!

saycheeeeeese · 06/02/2013 20:11

The underside of a roast chicken is the best part! !

Bowlersarm · 06/02/2013 20:13

YANBU. Best bit by far-keep it all to myself

TheFallenNinja · 06/02/2013 20:14

Best bit.

BumpingFuglies · 06/02/2013 20:14

YANBU - like Jayne I make gravy but get the best bits first

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/02/2013 20:15

Yum.

I love the sticky, sweet bits at the narrow end of a leg of lamb - yum yum yum.

Zukie - only breast? You are missing the best bits!!

FlouncingMintyy · 06/02/2013 20:15

Yanbu. I think that flavour is called umami. We don't identify it as a separate flavour in the West but they do in Japan. Or summat like that.

God no YANBU!

saycheeeeeese · 06/02/2013 20:19

I also go mad for the crispy skin on a roast chicken, even the slimy soggy bits!!

MrsPennyapple · 06/02/2013 20:24

Yum! I did roast chicken for dinner last night and made gravy with the fat and sticky bits. I ate all the skin myself as DPI doesn't like it :-)

QuickLookBusy · 06/02/2013 20:24

Yes yes yes!! It's the best bit.

FishfingersAreOK · 06/02/2013 20:24

Can I also confess to dipping a cold roastie or Yorkie into the bottom of the gravy boat/leftover gravy. Mmmmmm

saycheeeeeese · 06/02/2013 20:26

I've just eaten a huge stir fry and now all I can think about its a big roast chicken. ..a corn fed one, mouth is watering! !

Hassled · 06/02/2013 20:26

You should be deglazing those bits with white wine and then adding it to your gravy . They're not there for you to be eating, they're there for the gravy goodness.

bedmonster · 06/02/2013 20:27

Yummy. I only eat the white meat on a chicken, something about those brown gnarly rubbery bits at the bone that makes me shiver, but the roasting pan is a haven of flavours! Chewy crispy little bits and that yummy juice. Mmmmmm.
Really Zukie? Your roast chicken is just a couple of breasts? Where on earth does the flavour come from?! Hmm
