To despair at EVER finding a bra that fits?!

So, I have read every website on the subject, been measured at Bravissimo, and STILL find every single bra uncomfortable - even the ones that Bravissimo said were the right size. I just want to rip the thing off as soon as I get in from work. They seem fine for about an hour, then start to dig in.

I find that they just 'curl up' at the back, and I get horrible back fat, or dig in at the side/arm pit, but mainly on just one side! The band never seems to sit flush to my side iyswim. I have tried going up a band and down a cup, down a band and up a cup etc, have tried every style going..........

I found when I wore my saggy old too big bras they gave me no shape or support, but my god they were comfy!

I think I am about a 36/38 E/F. I have ordered and sent back about ten bras this last month as they just all HURT.

So, AIBU to just let 'em all hang out and be pain-free??!!!!

I'm pretty happy with my 34F bras from M&S.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 15:43

I often see bras in store that look so pretty but they never stock a 30G. The only bras in my size on-line are. Not very attractive.

PrincessUnderpaid · 14/02/2013 15:47

34g lady here, i actually found the most comofrtable bras I have ever bought are from Very - Sobet Boutique - Tee Shirt Bras. Free returns if you dont like them and next day delivery. Hope you get more comfortable silverstar

Happy Bra Grin

Doctrine - sorry for being blunt, was just surprised! I can see how the conversation went - would probably be similar here :)

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 16:25

That bra is lovely! It's a Cleo too, one of my fave brands

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/02/2013 16:28

Sorrell - I only asked about Cleo in Bravissimo because you had mentioned them on here. I bought that one, and a Juna in cream.
They are the most amazing piece of engineering and so reasonably priced, and so comfortable.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 16:33

I'm very impressed with the Juna one. My favourite brand is still Fauve but they're so pricey. Is the happy bra unpadded?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/02/2013 16:39

It is unpadded, although it has a double layer of material which seems to make the cup stronger to give a really good shape.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 16:45

Hmm, I'm dithering. I ebayed all my non-padded bras (mostly Freya and Lepel) as I found they didn't give me as a good a shape. Would you say that the Cleo Zia gives as much lift as the Juna?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/02/2013 16:51

Yes Grin

Actually, if anything it gives more.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 16:58

More, more, you say?! Ok, ordering this evening Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/02/2013 17:47

Just did a trip to Bravissimo - needed to restock. Concluded that bra sizing is still insanely inconsistent. Wound up with a 30GG, a 30HH, a 30J and a 32HH...and 3 of those were the same brand.

Although the Bravissimo fitting rooms are always funny for the overheard conversations "I think my bra is too small, this is a 38d but I think I need a 40, I was fitted at M&S"..."let me get some bras for you to try"...."Oh that one feels great what size is that"..."A 32GG"

Thanks to all those that recommended the Fantasie helena upthread after some experimenting with sizes as my panache 34Gs still not comfortable (was advsed 34g in panache by bravissimo ) am a 34ff and its amazing so comfortable..am not getting the dig in the sides I had from the panache..it is not that pretty even the balconnete but all day and its amazing...gone and ordered in every colour now and a swimming costume....Grin from these guys v fast service

thanks so much - now just to get a tape measure to my mum who as a size 12/14 has been advised a 38D by M&S (I am a 16-18 and a 34)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/02/2013 18:29

3rd - my previous best fitting bra was a Helena balcony and I loved it, but sadly it doesn't come in my current size! Glad you have got something you are happy with :)

I really want to sort my Mum out as well. She is slimmer than me and has huuuge boobs which are in remarkably good nick considering her age! She wears a 38F Hmm More like a 34J IMO.

AnyFucker · 14/02/2013 19:21

My sis needs a bra overhaul

She is very like me in shape but probably a cup size bigger

I am wearing 32D..she is wearing 36C. Silly bugger.

IcaMorgan · 14/02/2013 23:41

I have read all this thread and am now wondering what I should be.

I am currently wearing a 36a and most feel quite comfortable although I do have to pull some down at the front on a reg basis

I have measured myself following instructions on the thread and I am 32.5 round the back and 37.5/38 on the cup

A few years ago when I was wearing a 34a the woman in Virgin insisted I was a 32 and gave a a 32a bandeau bra to try on and I felt like my ribs were being crushed

My boobs are fuller at the bottom but do go rounds the side slightly and I feel more comfortable in a balcony or an unpadded plunge (since I put the weight on I feel funny with padding yet before I couldn't wear a bra that wasn't padded)

I also have the under the armpit bulge even with nothing on which I hate

Hopefully thats enough info to work out what I should be wearing if someone wouldn't mind working it out for me

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 14/02/2013 23:45

I think you are a 32E but I am only a junior Bra Monitor so wait for a pro Grin

The 32 a would have crushed you cos the cup was too small.

Scoop the armpit bulge into the cup when you try bras on.

IcaMorgan · 15/02/2013 00:09

Thanks, I did wonder if that was the reason it crushed me

32E was roughly what I thought it would be after reading the thread

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/02/2013 00:36

Yup, 32dd/e. If the cup is too small, then the back feels too tight as the cups pull the back far too tight. I had this happen to me today, could barely do up a bra in a 30H, no worries in the 30J.

IcaMorgan · 15/02/2013 01:00

Thanks SC, will have to find out what shops are close for me try try a few on

soaccidentprone · 15/02/2013 18:06

IM [http://www.brastop.com/SearchPage.aspx?type=1&size=32E&brand=&colour=&sectionid=&text= brastop have some bargains in your size]]

love bras is also good

I like curvy Kate, but fantasies are OK too.

I was originally measured in John lewis a few months ago, but the only bra they had which fitted me was bleughConfused

you need to find a bra which was wider cups and 'scoop' all you breast tissue into the cup. lean forwards we while you are doing thus to ensure all the breast is in the cup.

if it feels a bit tight then go up a cup size rather than up in the band size. it should feel snug and supportive and fit at the loosest setting. after a couple of weeks you may need to go onto the next set of hooks as the Lycra in it 'gives'. you will also need to adjust the straps. you shouldn't feel any weight on your shoulders or the straps digging in as all the support should come from the band.

good luck and happy shoppingGrin
