To despair at EVER finding a bra that fits?!

So, I have read every website on the subject, been measured at Bravissimo, and STILL find every single bra uncomfortable - even the ones that Bravissimo said were the right size. I just want to rip the thing off as soon as I get in from work. They seem fine for about an hour, then start to dig in.

I find that they just 'curl up' at the back, and I get horrible back fat, or dig in at the side/arm pit, but mainly on just one side! The band never seems to sit flush to my side iyswim. I have tried going up a band and down a cup, down a band and up a cup etc, have tried every style going..........

I found when I wore my saggy old too big bras they gave me no shape or support, but my god they were comfy!

I think I am about a 36/38 E/F. I have ordered and sent back about ten bras this last month as they just all HURT.

So, AIBU to just let 'em all hang out and be pain-free??!!!!

I'm a big fan of Fauve, Cleo, R&P, Prima Dona and Ewa Michalak.

My favourite sports bra is the Freya Underwired active

soaccidentprone · 09/02/2013 19:41

or a bargain here

might buy one myself at that price, but have just bought 3 new bra's this week already.

damn you temptresses of well fitting bra'sGrin

SorrelForbes · 09/02/2013 19:41

Apologies all, my mistake. It's actually the Thrill Me that I own.

ComeAlongPond · 09/02/2013 20:04

Do we measure in the back breathing in, or out? Breathing out I'm a 28, just, but breathing in obviously bigger. Over bust is 32. I've been measured a couple of times (thanks to these threads!) as a 28d or a 28dd but I'm still struggling to find bras. I think because I'm maybe a loose 28 back so if the band comes up loose then it's too big? And there's nothing smaller... Also, I get gaping at the top of the bra, I think my boobs are bottom heavy. My other problem is that the top of the cup, the corner where it meets the strap, often rubs against my armpit (the front I mean, not my actual armpit) and irritates me.

I suspect I need to try a balcony style? I'd really like something that pushes my boobs out and up in front. Or something padded. I'd love a decent cleavage for once.

I have a cleo bra that fits really well in the back but gapes in the cup. And a freya strapless that fits perfectly (a bit tight in the back if anything!) but when I try to buy an actual bra with straps from them, the back is too big and the cups are too high, even in the half cup style.

I found a little boutique underwear shop in the next town from where i live. By appointment only, she was amazing and not expensive in the least. i came out with 4 bras that fitted me beautifully for 100 quid. Is there somewhere liek that nearby.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:12

That is a great sale at LoveBras here !!

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:14

Returns are not free though Sad

Going off today where I probably tried on 50 bras, and found one that fits, I am loath to do mail order, tbh

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 09/02/2013 20:15

Damn you AF!

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:21

Some great YouTube vids on that site though for how to fit your bra properly.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:22

hehe Doc

SorrelForbes · 09/02/2013 20:30

Comealongpond breathing out. It does sounds as if you are a 28D or DD, you just need to persevere with finding the right style/shape/brand.

I mention Ewa Michalak a lot but their CH and CHP styles really forgive the most amazing up front lift! They are quite tight in the back so a 28 would probably be fine.

SorrelForbes · 09/02/2013 20:30

Aggghhh, really give

BinksToEnlightenment · 09/02/2013 20:38

I don't know if you would have given this one a go, AF, but I recommend trying Wonderbra's Ultimate Plunge.

You're the same size as me and I find it absolute hell getting a bra to fit. This one is the most comfortable and supportive bra I've ever had in my life. It's got a fully moulded cup, no underwire to dig in.

It's in another league compared to other bras.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:42

Plunge bras don't seem to work for me, as my boob tissue is very soft and the squeezing together action of a pushup plunge just ends with a puddle of boob in the middle of my chest Smile

Megglevache · 09/02/2013 20:43

AF that bra is gorgeous!
I'm going on Monday- cannot wait to try on stuff.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/02/2013 20:44

I am going shopping tomorrow. To Bravissimo. Really hope I can find something.

I cannot get on with a plunge either, everything flops in a rather depressing way.

I used to have fabulous boobs :(

soaccidentprone · 09/02/2013 20:45

AF

why oh why did you have to let me know that there was another bra sale on?

I hope I have got enough money now to last me till dh gets paid.

please everyone stop posting links to sales for lovely bra's which I know will fit me as I now know what to look for. and I am not going to post any more links eitherGrin

BinksToEnlightenment · 09/02/2013 20:47

They don't for me either, but this one is like two kinda flat slightly cupping palms. It's not like most of them - you know, like a stupid shelf just asking to get boob tip off them.

If you can ever face another bra trip, I highly recommend it.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:48

sorry, SAP...it's a good sale though innit

I would be lashing the credit card to death if I was more confident about what fits me

yep, Ali, lots of floppiness here

it might be something to do with the fact I ballooned to a 36HH nursing bra, and never having the firmest of boobs in the first place < sigh >

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:49

Binks, I will give it a try on your recommendation

32D seems to be a difficult size to find in the mainstream shops

much of Marks and Spencer's range started at a 34

ComeAlongPond · 09/02/2013 20:50

Thank you Sorrel, I will have a look.

BinksToEnlightenment · 09/02/2013 20:51

You know if you're undressing and make two hand cups in the mirror? It's like that, but a bra.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2013 20:52

Binks, that sounds good. Smile

ComeAlongPond · 09/02/2013 20:53

Everything on the Ewa Michalak site seems to start at a 30, am I looking at the wrong thing?

BinksToEnlightenment · 09/02/2013 20:54

Yes I know, it's an impossible size to find. Drives me batshit.
