AIBU?

to think BBC (Top Gear) should not promote bad driving

Latest programme (broadcast Sun.3rd Feb. Repeat Sat.9th Feb) includes the following:
(Last feature) car race on public roads.
Richard Hammond spinning the wheels of his car on the hotel forecourt.
James May reading a map as he drives along.
Jeremy Clarkson putting his car into a slide at one junction.

All this on public roads. It looks dangerous. Any driver should be prosecuted for dangerous driving for doing any of the above. Isn't it wrong for the BBC to promote it as "harmless fun"? Aren't they promoting bad attitudes to driving and safety.

And you think that taking TG off the tv will stop certain people driving like arseholes? Because it wont. There were arseholes before TG and there will be arseholes after it. There are arseholes in countries that dont show TG.

Blaming an entertainment program for the level of road deaths in the UK is bloody ridiculous!

I love Top Gear. It's absurdity in its most ludicrous form, but I love it.

I would not do Clarkson.
I would do The Hamster. Twice.

Am I the only person who would do James May?!

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2013 19:32

I would Bogey but I have some stuff that needs doing round the house. So if he could fix my outside light, mend DS2's puncture and have a look at the kitchen tap as foreplay that would be grand. Grin

Bogey you are more than welcome to Mr May Wink

And I do love love Top Gear yes it's daft but it's funny as anything and just light entertainment.

I just want the Hamster. I wouldn't ask him to do anything. Except me. Often. Grin

Hamster wouldn't be as good with his hands as JM IMO 11. Wink

It's not his hands I'm after Sparkling Grin

Yes Sparkling, Mr May has an impressive toolkit and would be very useful around the house.

I love Top Gear.

I bet when stuff in JM's house breaks it gets fixed instantly. Envy

I sort of watch it by default because my two boys love it and are always watching and rewatching it. I cannot stand JC but the programme as a whole is quite funny.

I'd do The Stig - but only if he kept his hat on. Grin

I love the one where they make 'campervans' and are driving down the M5 with something that looks like a block of flats on Jezzas car and Richard's little cottage which turns into a flammable tardis on the unfortunate campsite Grin

We love it here, and don't tend to take driving tips from it although dh pretends to

I love it. It's great light entertainment. but that's all it is. apart from letting me perv The Hamster

This place was fun. The DSs thought it was fab. Maybe not a good day out for you though Edward. Sad

Bogeyface - I would go on a date with James, but I wouldn't do him. I'd do Hamster but I'd marry JC for his money and motors Grin

Foggles that's revolting. Like leaving one's socks on. Eeeew!

Shag JC, Marry JM, Push RH off a cliff as he really gets on my nerves, his TG persona is fine but his RL personality is so effing smug!
