to expect not to have to wait over an hour

For my consultant appointment in antenatal. Why oh why can't hospitals sort out some sort of hospital appointment system which means you don't have to sit about for hours. Last week I had to wait an hour to get bloods taken having been for a scan. I'm fed up spending hours waiting for appointments. I had a 1.15pm one today, was first in the door and still waiting.

I guess it's the nature of anything to do with health care - it just can't be first come first served sometimes due to emergencies and emergencies are all too common.

Hope you don't have to wait much longer.

yanbu
Ours is on to a good little earner with it too: car park charged by the hour, you get there on time for your app and they have you waiting for hours.

Probably seeing to an emergency. get over it or pay private

I have been one of the people 'holding up' a consultant before now, I wish I had been sitting in the waiting room instead. Its a hospital, emergencies and unforseen problems happen.

Nope she ain't seeing to an emergency. It took her 20 minutes to find a room to work from and someone came along and stirred up the files so goodness knows where I am in the queue now. Sigh.

i am practically living at the local hosp re the tests i have to get at the mo.the system you wish for cannot exist in a NHS hosp by nature of same system, the variables are outwith a lot of the time anyones control, when i get fed up in waiting room i consol myself that this system is here for me and everyone else, thou must admit ,in my dottage i have mellowed and try to find a good positive vibe in everything(lays out purple clothes for next appointment..!)

Absolutely, we completely understand about emergencies. However, it gets to the stage where there's a standard lengthy delay every time you go for an appointment - whatever clinic you're attending - except for the one time you take a chance and arrive an hour late!
