And is not eating much either... hence my post. She's 9.

Since toddlerhood, my cousin's child, who I see about twice a week, has lived for the limelight. Meals were interrupted so she could change and have all the adults admire her in her princess costume, and so on.

The mother wants her to be a model. The child, now 9, is nothing special to look at, but she is very thin. Never eaten much, and is remarkably tiny compared to her peers. She also shows off still - constantly praising herself to others, constantly asking - demanding - praise from others. She is proud of her long legs and thus moves oddly, constantly spinning and kicking, gusset in your face non-stop. She wears 3yr old's clothes and prefers the Disney look, even at 9.

I'm worried. She also constantly talks about food and not eating it, or tries to shove food down others.

Do you think this is weird too? Other children in her peer group don't act like this. The relentless attention getting makes me uneasy. WWYD?

You seem to be blaming and judging the child. Surely if anyone deserves your judgy pant (size 3) it is the mother.

quoteunquote · 03/02/2013 20:24

what do the parent think about it, are they concerned?

HollyBerryBush · 03/02/2013 20:24

a 9yo the size ofa 3yo?

I'm sure school will have picked it up.

Merlotte · 03/02/2013 20:37

The school hv commented but there's not much they can do.

I'm not blaming either of them - I'm concerned.

The parents are openly proud of how incredible (they think) their DD looks.

she must be a very short 9 year old if she fits in a 3 year olds clothes.

Merlotte · 03/02/2013 21:10

She's skinny, not short. Height is average, I reckon.

is nothing special to look at

neither is Kate Moss, but she photographs like a dream.

What is your AIBU on this?

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2013 21:15

How does an average height 9yr old fit into 3yr old's clothing?

Unless she wears jeans as hotpants.

Sorry, Op, I don't quite believe your story - unless you have missed something out.

A 9yo wearing 3yo clothes, but is the average height of a 9yo?

A school HV - whats one of those?

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2013 21:20

Yes but a 3yr old's t.shirt on an average height 9yr old would be far too short surely?

cantspel · 03/02/2013 21:23

Even if she was only wear aged 3 tops they would be like crop tops on a nine year old.

Me think you just dont like the child. Which is ok but doesn't mean there is anything wrong with her.
