to be sad that my DCs are at the ILs

My 3 older DCs have been going to the ILs for a sleepover every 3 months or so. The ILs are going on holiday for 3 weeks on Sunday and they wanted alone time with the DCs before they go.
This time around my youngest DC4 who is 2 has gone to stay with them for the first time. He has been very excited really wanted to go with his brothers and sister.
DH is in work and won't be home till tomorrow.
My house is too quite. It is just strange, this is the first time I have been in this house alone. (We moved in 3 years ago)
I can't drink because there is a chance that DC4 will want to come home and I will have to fetch him.
They all left at lunch time and I have had a nice bath and eaten a nice pudding I bought myself and finished all the housework. I thought it would be really nice to have the house to myself but now it is just wired.

Now I do want DC4 to have a great time and I know the ILs will spoil all the DCs rotten but I feel sad because this just shows how fast my DCs are growing up. Sad

Oops I have just read that through and realised how pathetic I sound.

Not pathetic! I always feel happiest when all children are in the house (especially when they are asleep in their own rooms).

Can you see if dc4 is asleep yet if he is then I'd be getting myself a glass of wine and a book, some music and go to bed and enjoy the peace, the lie in and then depending on what time you are having them back tomorrow maybe pop to a friends for coffee or do some window shopping. Smile

It's unnerving isn't it? Grin

Resolve to get over the deafening silence and relax and pity me for having to wait for a 12 YOs bedtime lol-

essexmumma · 02/02/2013 21:19

I don't think you are pathetic at all! I feel the same when my girls are not at home too. Keep busy is all I can advise:)

MIL has text me to tell me that DC4 is asleep but he tends to wake up in the night. In his own bed he just goes back to sleep after a while. But he may be different with the ILs.
We are all meeting for lunch tomorrow so I won't have a lot of time to meet up with friends.
I am hoping for a lie in though Grin

I can kind of see your point but after 8 years bringing up children and only ONE night alone with my DH I'm also quite jealous that you have relatives happy to do this for you/your DCs.
