about expecting this ebayer to tell me when he is collecting before sending the address?

I have told him the village where we live but he is insisting on the full address and wont say when he is coming. I dont like the idea of this, I want to know when he is coming before I pass on my address.

Its a very small village so its not as if I am saying "we are in London"!

Do a search on ebay about what you can expect in terms of protection when it comes to a collection only item. If you find nothing then you stipulate the terms as you're the seller and the buyer is coming to your address, not the other way around. If he or she won't play ball then you'll have to file a non payment report.

Boomerwang · 01/02/2013 19:19

There's no reason why this man should refuse your request unless he's not all as he seems. Ask him why he wants it that way?

Bogeyface · 01/02/2013 19:21

I said that the item is currently being stored elsewhere so I need to know roughly when he is coming (AM or PM would do!) so I can send the right address and he said "send all addresses"#

Err....no!

Won't say when he's coming? That's odd, act professional and politely ask him to name a time. If it's a small village like you say then he doesn't need exact address til last minute. YANBU

I should say, both addresses are in the village its just that my parents have a garage and I dont!

You could perhaps arrange a place like tesco cafe to meet for the handover if he sounds odd (which he does)

Are you selling a car? Or motorbike? And you worry he will nick it?

Bogeyface · 01/02/2013 19:33

Its not a car or a motorbike, but I dont want to give 2 addresses when he knows that the one I wont be at will be empty iykwim!

Why can't you say you'll meet him at your parents? For all he knows your DH and 5 of his rugby playing mates could be at your house....he doesn't need to know its empty.

specialsubject · 01/02/2013 19:43

no-one reasonable would object to what you are asking. Be very careful.

Bogeyface · 01/02/2013 20:43

Sorted, ish.

He said his "mate" was doing the messages (hmm...) so I said that H and my dad will meet him at "our" house. Actually it is my parents house and they are having work done by my dads friends son and his work partner, so the "5 Rugby mates" wont be that far from the truth :o

I have checked his feedback btw and he buys alot of what I am selling (it is a spares or repair sale) presumably to refurb and sell. He feedback is good so am erring on the side of him being a dick, but a harmless dick!

He can pull your address anyway.

Bogeyface · 01/02/2013 20:48

Ah, he cant! This is why I am glad we havent updated since H lost his job! We had his work address as our home address because someone was always there to accept a parcel.

Will change it after this transaction is closed!
