To hate hate hate having tiny boobs

Without a highly padded bra my chest is completely flat - like a bloke. I am relatively small framed but I hate my lack of boobs sooo much. My friends always go on about how 'lucky' I am because big boobs are painful/annoying etc but in reality I would be delighted to have C or even B cups which I don't imagine to be hard to live with!

AIBU to hate having small boobs? I hate that I live in 'Abracadabra Bras', hate that I can't wear a bikini because I look ridiculous. I don't know anyone else as flat as me!

is that you kiera knightley?

fallenangle · 01/02/2013 21:50

I have a friend who is flat chested, totally flat. She wears a padded bra most of the time and looks great cos she is thin. Once at a dinner she wore a fantastic dress that plunged in a sharp v at the front down almost to her navel and was scooped at the back to her bum. She looked sensational. No tits but men's eyes were out on stalks. Lesson: it isn't how much you have, it is how you present it.

Blog entry about lingerie for small boobs Here

MrsKoala · 02/02/2013 11:10

I disagree a bit there fallen angel (although your friend sounds gorgeous). If you have small boobs and are slim/gamine/petite/athletic all over then it suits. But what if like me you are curvy (not fat) with broad hips and shoulders, fleshy thighs and arms - you look completely out of proportion. I have had people ask why I have such small boobs when the rest of me is clearly rounded so I look so odd without them. I could never wear strappy, halter, backless tops because my arms are so fleshy, no matter how many bean can reps I do!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/02/2013 11:21

Great blog. Thanks Sorrel. The links to the others were very useful as well even if some of them are in Polish Grin God bless Google translate

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/02/2013 11:45

Yanbu because that's how you feel.

But...take a look at the Hollywood actresses around,Kate Hudson,Keira Knightley,Carey Mulligan etc. They don't have large boobs. Nor did the supremely beautiful and stylish Audrey Hepburn.

I think smaller boobs look better in clothes, more elegant. And also, great in bikinis too.

I don't have big boobs per se but they look big on me because I have a narrow frame. I hate them.

Gauri · 02/02/2013 11:49

Wish I had some of your problem! I have large ones. Finding t shirts, dresses and tops that don't make me look matronly are a challenge. Really.

Enjoy your freedom to wear anything you like.

momb · 02/02/2013 11:50

I misread this and thought you were complaining about tiny books, which I quite like.
I'm sorry you don't like your own body. I don't know if that is U or not, but perhaps consider ways to work on liking yourself more?

FellatioNels0n · 02/02/2013 11:54

While I don't blame you for wanting bigger boobs (I am an E cup and I cannot imagine what it would be like to be flat-chested, horrible I imagine) I do think you have the better part of the deal compared to someone generally fat and dumpy like me. You can wear very good padded bras or get a boob job to end up with the perfect figure, whereas there is nothing at all I can do to disguise the fact that I have short, unattractive legs and a low-slung fat arse. Grin

Also as I have got older my boobs have stopped looking like glamorous traffic stoppers and started looking like unappealing wobbly udders that just age me and make me look frumpy and dumpy if I cover them or blousey and muttony if I flaunt them.

FellatioNels0n · 02/02/2013 11:58

I think it's all about proportion though. The most important thing is too look reasonably in proportion. I find it hard to listen to really slim people complaining about this - it's part of the deal of being slim! If you want my tits and my hourglass shape you have to take my fat thighs and fat arse as well. They are part of the package. Grin

TattooEnvy · 02/02/2013 12:03

YANBU

I feel exactly the same. I don't think the 'at least your healthy' comments are particularly helpful, can't help the way we feel. I do agree that maybe we need to work on our perspectives, however.

I did read that other thread though and after re measuring I have gone from a 32 a/b (depending on the shop) to a 30 b/c.. It's a pain though as high street stores, ones I can afford anyway, don't tend to go smaller than a 32 back.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/02/2013 12:37

Meh. It does annoy me somewhat when someone starts a thread like this, asking for empathy, and people come on saying "You have it easy. Try having big boobs" etc. It's not top trumps! The OP was moaning about being flat chested, not having small boobs. I don't think anyone with average to large boobs can imagine that, to be honest. In so many societies, a curvy shape (forget the models etc) is associated with femininity and sexiness and fertility. I have had people imply that it's no wonder I can't get pregnant, given that I have such a boyish shape (which I don't entirely actually - I have quite a curvy pair of hips. They're just narrow). To which people say "Oh what about the models and people in magazines? They give out the wrong message" Yes, but how many blokes have you heard say things like"Oh Kelly Brook - now there's a proper woman!" etc, as though you need extra assets besides the possession of certain chromosomes to be an actual woman. And the comments such as "Eat a pie!" get more than a little irritating - as if you can put on bust size through eating a pie!

Besides the whole point of this thread is that is isn't a skinny minnie moaning thread. There are women on here who have categorically stated they are not slim - they're have wide shoulders, hips, big arms and legs etc, just hardly any boobs. It's very different. And as an aside, I wouldn't go on a fat thread and say "Count yourself lucky - at least being fat means you have decent boobage." Grin

Applecrumbly · 02/02/2013 12:38

I have always hated being completely flat-chested but have now learned to accept myself as I am.At the age of 47 I now only wear a padded bra to give me a shape when I am going outside the house to shops, school, socialising, walking etc-otherwise I never wear one indoors and its soo comfortable.Love the freedom of it now actuallySmile.
Learn to accept it OP...there are lots of us about and it has its advantagesSmile.

andubelievedthat · 02/02/2013 17:07

oh,Arielthepiraticalmermaid, so you have decided what the whole point of this thread is? bloody glad you popped up then, i was confused and looking for a bit of guidance re the point of this thread,ta 4 your imput.and you may wish to know ,you can ,although as you say you do not, go on a "fat thread" and say as u feel, it is a forum ,as in, all welcome.take what u want and leave the rest.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/02/2013 17:54

Sorry? Confused

countrykitten · 03/02/2013 10:37

Don't worry ariel - it made no sense whatsoever so I think you can ignore it.

hackmum · 03/02/2013 10:46

I agree with you, Ariel - when I was 14 I was sometimes mistaken for a boy, which wasn't very nice. Though really I wouldn't have minded that much - it's more to do with the attitude of other people giving you "advice" about how you could make your boobs bigger, look more feminine etc. It's very hard to feel happy and confident in yourself when other people are telling you that you ought to feel unhappy with the way you are.

McNewPants2013 · 03/02/2013 10:57

I am a f cup and I love my breast, just don't like the price tag of the bras.

loofet · 03/02/2013 11:26

I always think of supermodels when thinking of small busts fwiw, or as someone else mentioned Audrey Hepburn Smile

Big breasts are actually quite annoying. I hate bras with an absolute passion and would love to be able to get away with not wearing one but it will never happen unless I get a reduction. I've been stuck with at least DDs since I was 12, i'm now FF through three pgs and bfing, its no fun. They do give me upper back pain, also no fun. I have to hold them when I run.

All in all I personally think smaller breasts are better and never understood the desire for big breasts (even women that are a C cup but want to go up more). But then a lot of us want something we weren't born with- I'd quite like thinner hair for example but a thin haired person might long for thick hair. Its (sadly) the way it is.

lovetomoan · 03/02/2013 11:45

My grandmother has small breasts. 7 children, all EBF. No sagging and she looks wonderful wearing dresses.

My friend has big breasts. 1 child, FF. Her boobs are sagging and she describes them as pancakes now.

I am glad I have mine small :D

Bunbaker · 03/02/2013 18:57

And I am slim with fat thighs and backside. I just want bigger boobs just to look and feel balanced. I can't wear shift dresses, for example. To get one to fit over my hips it would sag emptily over my boobs.

StinkyWicket · 03/02/2013 19:15

YANBU I think, purely because sometimes no matter how healthy and perfect our bodies are, we are still unhappy with some aspect.

I doubt there's a woman alive that wouldn't take a magic wand fix for something if it was offered.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 03/02/2013 19:34

Well, I have one big boob and one small boob so the best / worst of both worlds Confused

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 04/02/2013 18:43

Don't worry. I never noticed Grin though will obviously be checking out your boobs from now on when I see you. As you will mine I expect given the way this thread has run. Sometimes it's very unfortunate to meet actual Mumsnetters

garlicblocks · 04/02/2013 19:01

Sorrel, THANK YOU for the links above. I have no bloody idea what bra size I am, I just buy bras that don't hurt. Am going to unearth a tape measure and find out for real!
