To be sick of game playing businesses

I know it's just how the world works but I seem to be spending my week negotiating.

For a variety of reason between my mum and I we are buying lots of stuff. Home improvements, sofas, beds, insurance etc.

So far by getting multiple quotes and negotiating I have saved £18k in the last 2 weeks. This is about 40% off the first prices offered.

Why can't companies just give the real price? Playing games makes everything a hassle and makes me not like or trust any of the businesses I am buying from.

Ffs if you can do my windows for £15k why not quote that? Why quote £25k? You'd really happily fleece me of £10k?! Bastards.

I"m pretty sure thats called Capitalism? and we are all in it together.( you trust companies????)

I get that. But i just don't understand why it doesn't pay for companies to just be straight with us.

I won't be going with the window company who knocked £10k off the price when i shared the competitor quote. Just on principle really.

I also won't go with the insurers who tried to get me to reinsure for £140 more than last year. Even though after i mentioned the online quote i had got they suddenly dropped their price back in line with last year. And even though it will be lots more hassle to go with someone new. They don't deserve my loyalty.

If its windows I would consider ordering them from wickes or someehere similar and getting a trade to fit.

and i am in total agreement withyou , so much so that whenever i am looking for best purchase price i tell the company rep. i only want one price i want it now with no flim flam sales talk, that i will think it over and if i consider it acceptable we will do biz. in the near future, the big start price to be lowered as the sales pitch simply goes on and on and...... pisses me off, and i tell them so at the start.but people(sadly ) fall for /believe it.Grrrrrr
