And the middle classes are the worst

I have to say the only out and out racist and snobby people I know or have met are working class ones or dare I say it? Benefit claimants. But I certainly don't think that all of them are like this.

It is dreadful that you have had to put up with racist comments and guff about single mothers.

CloudsAndTrees · 30/01/2013 21:23

You know reverse snobbery is no prettier than you are describing right?

And that racism is something else entirely?

discotequewreck · 30/01/2013 21:42

I won't be crying about middle-classism anytime soon.

I do know what racism is and whilst I am fully aware such attitudes exist in all walks of life, I was making a specific point about the attitude of a certain section of middle class people.

A sense of entitlement with no appreciation of how their wealth is in part based on luck.

Really?

Do you think white people cried about racism 100 years ago either?

Just because a section of society has money, surely in this day an age any discrimination should be confronted and told that's not ok.

Middle classes obviously have not put up with as much as minorities. That doesn't justify the discrimination.

I had a neighbor who hated people who worked. She used to shout abuse when people got home from work. neither her or her husband worked.

Do i think all people who don't work are nasty shits that are too concerned with what others do? no.

CaptainNancy · 30/01/2013 21:56

I don't think you understand what class actually is- it is separate from wealth. HTH

YellowTulips · 30/01/2013 22:03

Let me ponder that OP ...

Seriously what a silly generalisation...

I remember being at a friend's wedding a few yrs ago talking to a middle class couple. I had long blond and pink extensions, facial piercings and visible tattoos. They weren't surprised when I said I was a single mum, but were shocked when I worked full time and even more shocked when they found out I had quite a responsible job. They actually congratulated me, the patronising bastards!
