Because, Che, the relevant duty or excise has not been paid in the UK on the imported cigarettes. And presumably no income tax paid on the profit made from selling the cigarettes. So it's a loss to the Government purse, which means we all have to pay a bit more elsewhere (higher VAT, for example) or spend less (closing some hospitals, for example)

How could you be sure they're not fake?

I create employment why am I not exempt from paying all the other taxes too? Is this new where can I get information from is it available on the HMRC website?

I saw a documentary once showing the fake cigarettes being made. All sorts of crap (literally) got swept up and packed into them BOAK.

I saw something like that once too Judge. What amazed me was how well they copied the packaging.

As I keep pointing out, they could be sold by one of the 1000s of people who go on 'booze cruises' and sell the fags cheap.

Good luck to posters who are happy to buy foreign cigerettes but not fake cigarettes as I would be amazed if they could tell the difference from looking at them.

If you believe the 'guy in the pub' or your 'mate at work' is going to buy the more expensive genuine cigarettes when he visits his home country rather than buy the indistinguisable fake ones then you are a mug that's ok .

Where I live there is a few fag houses and its old people that sell them hardly leading to gangs. They only do it because this country screws everyone over and I know they also work full time jobs but they do this on the side because they can't afford the cost of living in the uk anymore!!

If kids are gonna buy em then they will soon realise that the fags taste awful anyways and get some from the shop, if they are going to smoke they will find a way no matter what!!!

I am legit in everything and agree that people should pay their way but what hope have people got nowadays with the government being run the way it is.

Not many people stand a good chance in life in this country anymore because the country is run by people who know nothing of having life hard, they only think about lining their own pockets!!!

Which money could be used to 'sort out the debt this country is in'? It's not the money being spent on HS2 because that doesn't exist; a funding profile has yet to be established for it. There's definitely no 'cash' to pay for it.

Some people who think they are skint is no fault of the governments then tell me why are you? Why are you struggling to pay bills? Is it because of the constant drop in price of bread, milk, petrol, childcare, clothing, car tax? Thought not because all these are none existent and why you ask?
