I hate tattoos. Whilst I appreciate everyone has a right to their own taste and choices I still cannot get over the fact that people have them in places where they are visible.

A colleague of mine has just returned to work after M leave with a horrific tattoo from her wrist to her elbow. How can she go out and meet clients looking like that?? It can be seen through tops and obviously below short sleeved tops.

What I really don't like is seeing lovely brides on their wedding days, strapless dresses and tattoos on their upper arms and backs..... urgh!!!!!!

Anyone else with me??

Someone running 10k wouldn't impress me at all but I wouldn't take apart their motivation and love for doing it in a negative way Hmm.All the people who don't like them are so angry and way more aggressive than those with Smile

HintofBream · 28/01/2013 15:31

BupcakesAndCunting Moo.

usualsuspect · 28/01/2013 15:37

YABU. some right twats on this thread.

Where have they all come from?

theodorakisses · 28/01/2013 15:44

most of the paramedics I have ever worked with have been tattooed, if I was having a heat attack I wouldn't mind

noddyholder · 28/01/2013 15:47

Exactly The junior doctor I met who was heavily tattooed took one look at me and said 'Thats not a cyst its a tumour!" Saved my bacon for sure Grin

ditavonteesed · 28/01/2013 16:04

I have put a couple of my tattoos on my profile if anyone would like to go and judge me, I dont mind being judged, I love them.

noddyholder · 28/01/2013 16:09

I thank god for people like you Dita I couldn't bear to live in a world of newsreader hair and wrap dresses!

funkybuddah · 28/01/2013 16:12

Whats the difference between people with tattoos and people without?

People without tattoos dont care that you dont have any

YABU, if you dont like them, fine dont have any.

Tattoo acceptance in the workplace is becoming more widespread and thank god for that, Id rather see a massive tattoo than some cats bum mouth'd person hitching their cardy over somethig so trivial.

BarredfromhavingStella · 28/01/2013 16:13

Dita the neck art is lovely.

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:14

funkybuddah Has it spot on.

If it doesn't actually affect you then why give a shit?! I don't give a damn what you do with your skin, why should you care what I do with mine?

Miserable fuckers. What a way to go through life, being so angry about things that mean nothing to you!

WadingThroughTreacle · 28/01/2013 16:15

Most of my family have them. My brother is a tattoo artist. I don't have any. I'm a bit too square. One of my sisters doesn't either, she's a bit stuck up. But they don't offend me. I'm not intimidated if I see someone smothered in them either. I quite like that people can express themselves how they want.

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:15

Dita You look lovely!!

I really need to get some cash together to do the half sleeve I've been planning for ages now.

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:16

"Why do some people feel the need to be so horrible?"

Good question OP, very good question. Care to answer?

McNewPants2013 · 28/01/2013 16:18

I love my tattoos, and thinking about getting another one once I have the money.

I see them as art, I especially love the 3d ones.

To people who have not got them I don't judge them, so don't judge me on my body art.

funkybuddah · 28/01/2013 16:18

Have to add my DP doesnt like tattoos at all, but it doesnt bother him that I have some, and plan more lots more

ditavonteesed · 28/01/2013 16:19

thanks Smile I am not individual or special, what I am is happy with who I am and it has taken me a lot of my life to reach a point where I dont care what others think.

I wonder if people who make such harsh judgements of others based on things that do not affect them are not quite as happy with themselves as they would like people to think.
MOG I believe it was on a thread pretty much exactly the same as this one that we were looking at new designs a while ago, I must carry on with that, whats your design like?

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:20

For the tattoo lovers, check out these beauties -

Flowers
Lace
Henna-like design
Steampunk

KatyTheCleaningLady · 28/01/2013 16:21

OK, maybe I missed some stuff where the OP got nasty earlier in the thread (I came in late) but I think it's silly for people to get really butthurt over someone having a negative opinion of tattoos.

I mean, someone has a design - a picture, even - drawn on their bodies and they show it off. It's there for a reason. It is meant to be seen. How is it any different to say "Oh! I really love that honeysuckle vine around your lower arm?" I mean, is that not judging and having an opinion? Some people like them and some people don't. It's unreasonable to expect people to like them.

It's not unreasonable to expect people to be polite and not say anything to you, but I would say that a thread on AIBU is a different thing. I can assure you that I never say to people "That Tweety Bird on your ankle is stupid."

chocoluvva · 28/01/2013 16:22

Someone running 10K would impress me.

Enduring prolonged pain for a tattoo doesn't. It just makes me think the person must have REALLY wanted to have the tattoo.

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:23

Dita I'm thinking a lace pattern from wrist to elbow with flowers entwined (in the same style as my first link). The flowers will be fuchsias as they were mum's favourite, and possibly mallow flowers depending on how painful my divorce is. I want DS's date of birth incorporated somehow, though I'm not keen on text so may just use his astrological glyph instead - subtle so it needs to be pointed out rather than glaringly obvious.

HighJinx · 28/01/2013 16:25

I would never have a tattoo because it's just not me.

But that's the point isn't it?

People can express themselves in whatever way they like.

When I was ill a couple of years ago I saw a few episodes of LA Ink and some of the designs on there were amazing. Made me wish I did want a tattoo actually.

usualsuspect · 28/01/2013 16:25

I will show my DS that Steampunk design.

Hes really into Steampunk ATM.

ditavonteesed · 28/01/2013 16:27

that sounds lovely.
what do you think of this skulls
katy, the op is not judging something that doesnt exist, the op is specifically saying that she would judge me as a person (and many others) based on something that I have on my body, the op has never met me, she knows nothing about me but she has said, albeit on the internet that she judges me as a person, I dont judge her as a person (well maybe a little now but that is only based on her judgement of me not on her physical attributes)

MurderOfGoths · 28/01/2013 16:27

usual It's a fantastic style! Pinterest is particularly great for Steampunk imagery at the moment, I also read that it's likely to be becoming a bit of a trend soon.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 28/01/2013 16:28

HighJinx, I know the feeling you mean! There's a part of me that looks at those totally inked people and think they look so cool and wish that I was like them. But, I'm not like them and so that's that. Grin
