Only kidding Grin

sorry - naughty of me but I just wanted to link to Desert Island Discs [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01q7gvl here] I'm about 9 minutes in and in pieces already. What a woman. If you haven't heard get listening.

Thanks reeled me in!

JackieandJudy · 27/01/2013 18:42

I did this at your title Shock and then this at your op Smile

NorthernLurker · 27/01/2013 18:49

Sorry Grin Just think it's a great programme and I wanted people to hear it.

I heard snippets of this today and thought it was fascinating - I love the fact that she is so straight talking. Must listen again properly.

I have to admit that I did get a bit fed up of the years of celebs always referencing her

MmeLindor · 27/01/2013 19:00

Damn. I was ready for a bunfight.

Thanks for linking though - heard an ad for this earlier, but didn't hear it when it was on.

I watched the film last year, it was excellent.

GailTheGoldfish · 27/01/2013 19:34

Hahaha! Was ready to give you a shitstorm! Looking forward to catching up on this tomorrow when I have childcare because I am supposed to be working from home

Varya · 27/01/2013 19:40

I think she is amazing and has stood up to the infamous military generals so well. 15 years house arrest. Widowed in 1999 but not allowed to see her husband before his death. Amazing woman.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2013 19:41

quoteunquote · 27/01/2013 19:57

Pulls down sleeves, picks coat up, as you were.

NorthernLurker · 27/01/2013 20:00

She just comes across so well. There's a bit when she's talking about her life with her husband and young family where she talks about being interested in whatever you do that really should be the mumsnet motto.

I was going to start a thread on her complete awesomeness having listened this morning - the programme made me well up a bit several times. She talked about how strict her mother was and how that sense of discipline got her through prison, and she talked about her fondness, despite everything, for the Burmese army - an astonishing woman.

MrsCR · 27/01/2013 20:48

You got me!

Jinsei · 27/01/2013 21:39

I was all ready to join in the flaming OP! Thanks for the link!
