to find surprise funny first dances at weddings just not funny?

Last wedding I went to they did Gangnam style as their first dance.

Others I've seen ... Dirty Dancing, Gold digger etc.

I remember the first one I saw on youtube to Baby Got Back, which I'm sure most of you have seen too. What made that dance so good was that it was so original and funny.

But these days it's so overdone that it's just boring, and not really a surprise.

Yanbu. It stops being funny and quirky when it becomes overdone and the norm.

bellamafia · 19/01/2013 01:39

Agreed.

Although I went to a wedding not long ago whereby the 'happy' couple actually preceded to do a strictly come dancing style dance and even watching that was cringeworthy!!! He, apparently, was a dance teacher by night. Stick to the day job me thinks!

Ok.
(Reviews jump and jive for first dance and considers Viennese waltz...)

gollumiscute · 19/01/2013 01:45

One couple did the Pulp Fiction dance which I thought was slightly original.

But yes it is definitely overdone now.

Yanbu

Pickles101 · 19/01/2013 03:05

YANBU.

I hated it when it was still original, too

DizzyZebra · 19/01/2013 03:32

Yanbu. The first time I saw one it was funny. Just lame now.

I liked the jk wedding entrance one but haven't noticed that being kicked to death.

McNewPants2013 · 19/01/2013 03:37

so what to you it is boring, it is all about the couple.

Booyhoo · 19/01/2013 05:01

yanbu at all!

i was at a wedding in the summer and the couple are very much the type to do this sort of thing but they would of course do a song that hadn't been done before so that they were the first to do it. first dance arrived and they didn't do it. i was so relieved! i had been anticipating having to smile and laugh along with everyone else while being bored stupid and then telling them i loved it and how original they had been.

theodorakisses · 19/01/2013 06:13

I don't go to weddings unless I absolutely have to. The dance would be the last straw for me after a day of having to do, eat and drink things I don't want. I saw one on four weddings where they started off slow dancing and then leapt into some ridiculous parody. I wanted to kill them.

MidnightMasquerader · 19/01/2013 06:16

gollum - were they teenagers, though?!

YANBU - v contrived...

DeafLeopard · 19/01/2013 06:26

YY it's trying too hard and cringey
