to want to buy a car,(and get an xplory in the boot)

I've come to the conclusion that life will be a lot easier with a car. I've been "window shopping" online looking a cars and I'm stuck. I want a car that will fit a tall man 6ft 3in, me 5ft 4in, a large dog (labrador crossed with gordon setter) a stokke xplory in the boot, and I'll sometimes have a 16 year old boy. My window shopping has reached the point where I've realised that I can afford a small car on my maternity leave payments but I've reached a huge setback... My Xplory is now 4 days overdue with no signs of when it will arrive!

So nice mumsnet users can you help me. What car would you get new or used and can you fit an xplory in the boot?

Estate car is best for transporting dogs/pushchairs

Wont it be very cramped with all of you in the boot? Grin

Just found out I should have my pram/push chair on Wednesday.

Do you think well all be able to fit in the boot of a new fiesta or a Clio sport tourer (estate). Failing that do you think the xpory would fit in the boot?

Take it with you when going to see cars :) We bought a new car recently and found the sales people very accommodating, when discussing boot size we were told we could take extended test drives for half a day, take it home and do trial loads, bring stuff in with us etc. We took our camping cool box in, it's large, but once we saw it in the boot we could estimate how much space we had.

Sorry Isandri, couldn't help myself yesterday [immature emoticon]

Would the website for the car you want have the specifications for the boot size?

i'm assuming that theirs also a baby or toddler to put in the buggy?

am i reading right that you want to buy a car based around a buggy?

Hey. I had an xplory, and it fitted in the boot of my Skoda Fabia. Which probably has enough head height for your DH, and adjustable seats for you.

I love mine...

Exactly I want to buy a car based around a pushchair :) we live in a village almost opposite a bus stop to the nearby town(food shops) and can cope without a car but it's hard work. We can easily afford a car (i have very generous maternity pay) so I've been window shopping but can't find boot dimension online anyways getting annoyed. The pushchair is for a 9 week old.
