I ordered an item for ds's main Christmas present from The Hut website halfway through November. The website said it was in stock and I believed that was plenty of time for it to arrive by Christmas. On 28th I got an email saying it had been despatched, to arrive in 5-7 working days. Fair enough I thought, we aren't in a rush. It didn't arrive so I looked on the website where it said to allow 10 working days before contacting them, which I did. This is where it gets fun. I tried phoning the number provided several times, all there was was a recorded message which cut you off after saying they were busy. I had to trawl through the website to find some way of emailing them, it was made as difficult as poss IMO, but I sent a polite email. This was ignored so I sent another telling them I was starting to get worried as it was my son's Christmas present. They sent an email telling me to fill in the attached form in order to get a replacement or refund. There was no attachment! Suspecting stalling tactics by now I emailed to say I would be glad to fill in the form which they had sadly omitted and could they please send it as soon as possible. I heard nothing else, and they still weren't answering the phone so I had to buy a duplicate item from another supplier (which arrived within 2 days so pressie problem sorted at least, even though I could have done without spending another £50).
Anyway, long story shortish, We get to last week, still no item, still no-one on phones so I sent one last email explaining that I'd been forced to buy an alternative present and wanted a full refund as this item was no longer of any use to me, and threatening them with trading standards etc.
Today the bl**dy thing arrives! The despatch date on the parcel is 11th Jan. I'm pretty certain that they never sent one out originally, there was no tracking number or anything. I am livid that they sent this on purpose, knowing I didn't want it, to avoid giving me a refund. Now I've got two of them and I'm not sure what to do. Given their track record I'm not convinced that if I sent it back I would actually get a refund, plus it is quite heavy so would cost a lot in postage.
