To think there is a conspiracy between car door designers and car seat manufacturers?

A bit fed up, as after nobly spending a freezing afternoon in the park with the children, I managed to chip a tiny bit of paint on the car next to us, whilst trying to click DS's seat belt in - it's going to cost me quite a bit.

AIBU to think no sane parent would have designed car doors to be sprung at a certain point, so that even though you try not to open them too wide, if you knock them with your bum whilst you are ineligantly stretching over your child to clip the seat belt, they will definitely fly open with enough force to damage the next car. And why is the fastener in the middle of the seat to make it so difficult in the first place?

No parent and child parking spaces in these parts, and yes, the car I chipped was a Mercedes, and as the cross owner told me, it cost him 27k, so he wasnt going to just ignore a paint chip.

Great, not a cheap trip to the park then...
