To be unable to throw some useless old tins out due to sentimental reasons?

We are moving house in just over a week and have been doing more sorting out today. I found theese old biscuit tins my Mum gave me years go when I first left home, I used to keep things in them, but they have been at the back of the cupboard for the seven years we have been in this house and for some daft reason I can't bear to throw them away. It's not like they would be of much use and my Mum is alive and well still, so am I being a silly sod, and should I just throw them all away.

YANBU.

I have all manner of mismatching plates/tins/boxes that I hold onto for 'sentimental reasons'. The sentiment behind it may be mad, but if you'd regret throwing them out then don't!!!

DH and I both have a big plastic lidded crate thing that we are allowed to keep such stuff in. We're not allowed to challenge what the other keeps but we are only allowed one box each.
Keep them, put them away in the loft of your new house or somewhere and then maybe next time you can thr0w them - or not

I use all the old sentimental tins to store the delicate christmas decorations in, it nice seeing them each year when we open them to get the decorations out.

I like the one box idea. We all have things which are no use but we just can't let go of.

Tins are never useless. They look nice and you can put stuff in them .

You can at least use them for packing up all those tiny things that don't have homes... like all those inidentifiable bits in the kitchen drawer, which I'm sure are moving with you too Smile

Keep them, I would.

I'm clearing out today as well, due to moving, good luck Thanks

Thank you for all your replies, the having a box each is a good idea. Luckily my DH isn't overly sentimental. I'm terrible we found a box in the loft with all my childhood cuddly toys in and it made me cry! Wussy or what? Needless to say they are not going anywhere and neither I have decided are the tins.

Good luck with your move too vintageviolets.
