To think dressing a baby in a babygro isn't trampy or lazy?

Apparently so according to a friends nan.

Because you wouldn't go out in your pj's, so why would you take your baby out in theirs?

A babys a baby I don't see any point in poncing them up in frilly dresses and headbands - babygros all the way here!

Am I the only person who thinks of gro's as ummm... suitable babywear rather than pj's?

YANBU, it much more comfy for the baby.

Surely clean and warm are the priorities - doesn't really matter otherwise. And tbh I hate seeing babies in overly fussy, frilly things and why would a baby need a headband anyway?

That's so silly. As a new mum you have enough to worry about to be concerned whether your baby looks trendy or not! Take no notice of your friends nan.

I keep mines exclusively in babygros until 12 6+ months at least

YANBU - babies sleep in the day anyway so why not keep them in comfy sleepwear? I went for babygrows much of the time until 6 months and often now at nearly 9 months he stays in a babygrow - i have some "day" ones which are brighter colours. I think little babies in mini adult outfits look ridiculous.

I hate to see babies in tight clothes, stiff jeans, silly clothes poking them. They are all soft and new (can you tell I'm broody). Dress them in babygros. Lovely and comfy.

Dd had a tiny black dress for if we went visiting old buggers and they still complained because babies shouldn't wear black ffs

Ds had some dungarees and a stretchy top.

Everything else was babygro type things. Once they were more mobile it was leggings for dd and jersey trousers for ds.

I wish I had the sense to just dress my DD in babygros for the first 6 months! I got all stupid and insisted on 'dressing' her everyday! I won't be making that mistake with number 2!!

My DD wore a babygro til she was 1yo, and then I started putting her in leggings and tops so it wasn't a big step change! I firmly believe that her comfort is more important than whether strangers think I'm trampy or lazy...

My friend with a DD the same age had her in full outfits including shoes from being just a few weeks old. It seemed to hinder her somehow, she couldn't manoeuvre herself properly because of all the blooming frills and clumpy shoes, she always looked very uncomfortable.

We used to call them boiler suits. Dd was always in them and we only changed her if she was sick on them.

Of course that was about 4 times a day.

I saw a giant baby in one at a mcdonalds the other day. Must have been a baby right, because no self respecting adult would leave the house in one?

I hate (ok hate is strong) seeing babies in jeans when they have ridden up and their legs are out in the cold
Put them in a babygrow, they look warm and soft and new and sweet.
Plus the fact it is easier to get vomit and poo out of cotton then it is denim!!

YANBU - my DD wore Babygro's until at least 3 months and then only dressed her if we were off somewhere special.

YANBU. It annoys me that shops insist on calling them 'sleep suits'. I kept DD in babygros for months as she is a chubby little thing and i didn't like waistbands round her middle.

3mo DD2 has worn a dress twice, leggings and a top once, and the rest of the time she's been in a vest and sleepsuit. DD1 was the same, didn't wear 'proper' clothes till 5+ months.

The thing about 'adults not wearing their pyjamas all day' is silly. Adults don't spend all day lying on their backs; babies do, so they need to be in soft comfy clothes. And it seems much easier to wash a load of sleepsuits than to have to wash 3 or 4 outfits every day if they have a leaky nappy or vomit incident.

DD stayed in babygros until 6 months and 2 week old DS is living in them at the moment.

Like kitandkat I've got brighter ones for daytime and do have a bedtime routine which includes changing DS into a 'sleeping' babygro.

Nope. My 9 month olds still wear babygros most of the time. I make exceptions for going out as they've been given some lovey clothes and its nice for them to wear them. But they are all also soft and squishy outfits. I've already stocked up on 12-18 month rompers ready for the summer because they are soooooo much easier than t shirt and shorts etc.

I'm certainly no tramp maybe lazy but loved mine in baby grows, they looked so gorgeous.

yanbu. Babies need to be comfy & warm, babygros, vests & nappy are all they need for at least 6mnths, indoors.
I would even pop a cardigan over the babygro if it was chilly.

Not at all trampy or lazy. They look very cute, they're easy & quick to change, and comfy for the baby, what's not to like?

It's not trampy and it's not lazy. Why would put buttons, tight waist bands, and zippers against their lovely snuggly sensitive bodies? It makes sense to dress them in baby suits and layer them up.

You can get lovely baby sets anyway for them to wear.

Ds2 is three weeks today, mAjority of time is in baby grow, with jacket or coat over top. He has worn top and trouser sets, or fleecy dungaree and long sleeved vest sets but wont be in jeans or what I think of as proper tops for a while yet.
