to think MN shouldn't support boots co-advertising newborn bottle sets and "follow on" milk

ICBINEG · 10/01/2013 12:30

when there's a national campaign on to promote BF?

Presumably this advert passes the letter of the law regarding the non-advertising/non-special offers on formula for new born's but it defies the spirit in every way possible.

AIBU to expect a little more social responsibility from MN?

Moominsarescary · 10/01/2013 22:24

Unfortunately I'd say there's probably more than just two

Luckily they're in the minority and mn has plenty of sane posters who can support women to bf if they choose to

CheckpointCharlie · 10/01/2013 22:24

Bollocks.

wannaBe · 10/01/2013 22:25

yes pickled I wondered that.

remember when going out in the snow it's essential you wear thick sockpuppets socks... ;)

JumpHerWho · 10/01/2013 22:25

So Checkpoint where do you stand on skinny jeans?

And do you know where one can buy a sledge?

PickledInAPearTree · 10/01/2013 22:25

I think we were having a meaningful
discussion at one point Charlie, Justine agreed with her and everything, was all fine !

wannaBe · 10/01/2013 22:28

I need a stylist. I live my life in jeans it must be time I became more refined...

MorrisZapp · 10/01/2013 22:29

Boob, much respect etc but I really hope you're sure of your ground re PND and bf. I stopped bf entirely under my own steam, with the love and support of people who were horrified seeing me fall apart.

Bf may well reduce the risk of PND, statistically. I've heard some mothers say it helped their recovery. But for others bf is a contributing factor to PND, not a cure for it. I stopped, and my recovery started.

I think that most intelligent women will take very unkindly to well meaning people sympathising with them for not being given the true facts. I'm clever, have resources, and oodles of support. I've never had a problem gathering facts or information. BF was one of the things that triggered my depression. It just was. I'm very well informed, honestly I am.

SirBoobAlot · 10/01/2013 22:29

Oh fuck it.

One of you cunts lovely ladies will have to drag me back up to the top of the hill again, you know that, right?

mrsjay · 10/01/2013 22:38

right im off to bed least it is friday tomorrow yayy night all

SirBoobAlot · 10/01/2013 22:38

Morris, I do hope you are very much on the mend now, and never go back to that dark place. I know what a bleak place it is. And if stopping breastfeeding was the right decision for you to aid your recovery, then I will certainly not berate you for it.

My issue is when women are not informed correctly to make that decision - and that is not their fault, that is the fault of medical practitioners, the whole "To take anti-depressants you MUST stop breastfeeding" and "Of course you are depressed, you're breastfeeding", which you do encounter, and is not positive in any way.

To stress again, that is the fault of the professional teams, not the mother.

Moominsarescary · 10/01/2013 22:39

Yep and it's always around Christmas when the site has been shut for 2 weeks already.

I want snow in march or April

PickledInAPearTree · 10/01/2013 22:42

I look good naked after five pints of Stella.

Im off to bed now, Moonmin, I want to be INFORMED if you go into labour!

I feel all peculiar today! I think I will last a week or two yet.

Certainly Im only virtual sledging just in case.

  2. while we appreciate that this is a hugely emotional topic for many posters, we do need everyone to remain within our Talk Guidelines, and steer clear of both personal attacks and goading (as well as all the other things our Guidelines say you're supposed to steer clear of).
