Am I BU to want to spoil myself for once on my BIRTHDAY?

That's it really. I usually don't do much for myself on my birthday. When I do go to buy something I end up buying something for someone else, like my DD for example. However I would really like to do something different this year, suggestions for things to do solo are also helpful. Spending time alone sounds lovely at the moment.

I know not strictly AIBU but more traffic here.

Day at a spa?

HecatePropolos · 06/01/2013 14:54

spa weekend?

HecatePropolos · 06/01/2013 14:54

great minds, theoriginal

Have you got enough for a salon appointment, total revamp, cut, colour, etc?

VoiceofUnreason · 06/01/2013 14:55

I don't think you are BU but there are plenty on MN - based on another thread in Relationships - that would disagree because they say birthdays are only for kids.

A pampering day at a spa is one idea. Totally solo and self indulgent.

ebersneezer · 06/01/2013 14:56

Are you close to any footpaths? Get dropped off somewhere, nice long country walk to a pub. Call partner to pick you up, drink wine whilst you're waiting.

blackeyedsusan · 06/01/2013 14:56

apparently, spa treatments are quite popular.

me I would prefer to go to a cafe that sells coffee and cake and delicious food and take a good book.... mmm think that is what I am going to have to do for my birthday!

I would also buy myself a book I really wanted to read..

Numberlock · 06/01/2013 14:56

Depending what you like - new hair style, massage, nails done, cinema, theatre, art gallery, lunch in nice bistro with glass of wine, treat yourself to lots of new books, night away on your own in an unusual guest house or hotel, a free style consultation at John Lewis, sign up to a night class, wine tasting session, start learning a musical instrument...

Hopefully something in that list that appeals!

DieWilde13 · 06/01/2013 14:57

Are you me?
I would get bored going to a spa for a day on my own, but I would love to get a proper Swedish back massage, go for a nice lunch, book a personal shopper session in John Lewis and go to Bobbi Brown for a consultation. Smile

I agree, spa weekend, but maybe somewhere towny too so you can go for a nice meal and shopping. See if you can rope a few friends in to join you. It feels great to have a bit of time just for you, or if you can't go that far, then a half day in jacuzzi + sauna followed by a lazy lunch. I'm going to end up running dd2's birthday party on my birthday - her birthday is just 2 days before mine and there's no way round it this time. Spa day will have to wait!

HollyBerryBush · 06/01/2013 15:01

Spa day would be my idea of hell on earth

Viviennemary · 06/01/2013 15:03

I've always wanted to go on a hot air balloon. But I could afford it now but too scared! Spa days are nice. Spa breaks for a few days even nicer.

Serendipity30 · 06/01/2013 15:04

Spa day sounds good, but i think I would find it a bit intrusive, but nails and feet need a good seeing too, may do that.

but blackeyedsusan sounds good, I never turn cake down. One of my many problems.

I haven't got partner ebersneezer and would not trust my family to drop in the middle of no where just in case they didn't come back Hmm

All really good idea's and thoroughly self-indulgent which I want.
