To think that in a "family film"

Eighteen minutes of adverts in an hour is ridiculous.

We are watching Jurassic park which ds hasn't seen before and is sooooooo excited about seeing the dinosaurs. We have had eighteen minutes of adverts and have only seen two dinosaur an hour in. Ds is on the point of wandering off disappointed.

This has been happening with "family films" all Christmas

Only at Christmas? It happens every weekend. Not just Christmas.

TidyDancer · 31/12/2012 19:39

This is not exclusive to family films and it's not a Christmas thing either.

I still remember the outrage over the premiere of the first episode of Lost several years ago. It seemed to be more advert than episode at times.

tittytittyhanghang · 31/12/2012 19:40

sky is the worst for this, ive seen an advert break before the credits roll up at the start!

StuntGirl · 31/12/2012 19:42

Try watching anything in America. How anyone manages to watch anything over there is a mystery to me.

Myliferocks · 31/12/2012 19:45

Programmes that are only 45 minutes long when shown on BBC are nearly always 1 hour long when satellite channels show them months later.
I hate adverts!

SkivingAgain · 31/12/2012 19:46

sky+ them and watch later.

vj32 · 31/12/2012 19:47

We record everything on commercial channels and watch later or in delay for this reason.

I dunno what we did before sky plus seriously just fwd through ads it is great , on sky the films are always long

redexpat · 31/12/2012 19:57

We videoed things and fast forwarded through the adverts!

Magrathea · 31/12/2012 20:02

Unfortunately we don't have record only catch up and films aren't on catch up.

They that've cut the T. rex scene at the end to make way for more bloody adverts!

Yep I humux films on advert channels to avoid this. DS nearly 4 was seriously upset yesterday when I'd gone to the loo while watching Ice Age 3 with him and some ads came on. He thought the telly had broken!

Magrathea · 31/12/2012 20:04

Oops, *they have.(predictive text nonsense)

SantasHoHoHo · 31/12/2012 20:05

This is why we record everything and fast forward adverts. Life is too short and time too precious...

I agree. Used to record X-Factor for that reason, sooo many adverts. Life IS too short so stopped watching the crap altogether Grin

NinaHeart · 31/12/2012 20:09

If there were no adverts when would you go for a pee?

mrsjay · 31/12/2012 20:40

I press pause if i need a wee break Grin

LuluMai · 31/12/2012 20:44

It's unavoidable, it's how the channels make their money.
