All night every night, and since he lost his job all day too, the TV is on. He pulls a face if I suggest turning it off, playing cards, backgammon or whatever and will occasionally do it out of sufferance.

He says that he doesnt want to play a game or read or listen to music, but I dont want to watch TV, why is that the default?

He loves films, always has, it his "specialist subject" I suppose, which is fine but he doesnt put films on, he just puts shite TV on ALL THE TIME. He has been known to out a film on his portable DVD player and watch that whilst also watching TV and get a bag on if I turn the TV off or over. Thats the other thing, he gets a right bag on if I turn over yet he thinks nothing of doing that when the kids are watching something and never asks me if there is something I want on when a program has finished, he just picks the next program.

We have discussed it, argued about it, I am so fucking sick of it. Especially as I get accused of being anti-social by being on the PC all evening! How am I more antisocial than him? I come on here to MN, play card games, listen to music etc because he never takes his eyes off the fucking telly!

AIBU? And if not, what do I do about it?

Could he be depressed?

Bogeyface · 30/12/2012 20:59

It isnt a symptom of depression no. It has been an ongoing row for years, whenever he is at home the TV is on, always has been. He even admitted that he hated going on holiday to France as there was no TV Hmm
