YANBU.

One of my friends went to visit another whose emigrated overseas and he first thing she didn't was ask for the broadband password Xmas Confused

TheCatInTheHairnet · 28/12/2012 18:30

Whenever I read FB threads on here, I always wonder if any MNers actually like their friends and family.

I've just seen a picture of my BFF in her ski lodge and it made me smile she was in such a great place. Why would I be annoyed at seeing people I care about having a good time?!!!

TidyDancer · 28/12/2012 18:32

I don't really care for other's holiday photos, but it doesn't bother me if they post them on FB. I suspect that there's a touch of the green eyed monster with some strong objectors....

If you are posting from your holiday you are telling everyone you are not at home and your home is vulnerable to theft. I know people say theyes only have friends on fb but I can see my friends liking certain posts from people that I am not even friends with.

Tweasels · 28/12/2012 18:34

When I'm on holiday, I'm on holiday. I use a camera to take photos and my phone is turned off.

I even think it's pathetic when people upload ALL of their pics when they get back. Is nothing private anymore. I would get it if you had a really small FB group of family and close friends but that is rarely the case.

WorraLorraTurkey · 28/12/2012 18:35

Personally I don't 'do' Facebook photos but I don't think those who choose to do it are giving any indication that their holiday is not that great.

I think it takes minutes to upload a photo straight from your phone to your news feed?

I say I think because I'm actually a technophobe who has no idea...it looks pretty easy though Xmas Grin

BrianButterfield · 28/12/2012 18:38

It takes seconds, not minutes even! I like seeing holiday pics. I get to see friends and family in all sorts of places I will never go to - have seen photos of tours of NZ, SE Asia, India...never see it as bragging, just sharing someone's experiences. It's what Facebook is FOR!

I take pictures on my phone. There is then a button that asks if I want to upload them. I click yes, might as well in case I lose my phone. Then get back to the fun. Takes a second extra maybe?

Like other peoples' children, other peoples' hols are just as uninteresting. Unless you don't like them that much, it's just the way it is!

(Yes I do like most people on my fb, no I'm not best friends with all, yes they can hide, blah.......& so on & so forth....!)

IcouldstillbeJoseph · 28/12/2012 18:53

Yanbu - my SIL takes this to a whole new level. Recently had 171 photos posted from a week in Mexico. At least 100 of these were of the 'amazing food'.
Now, two things - 1, it didn't look that bloody amazing to me, and 2, why, why, why, on sitting down to eat your breakfast/lunch/dinner/poolside snack would you feel compelled to take a photo of the fucking thing?!

comedycentral · 28/12/2012 19:01

usual your friends may not be burglars but you don't know who they are friends with. When a friend likes your holiday photo their friends get to see what they liked even if they are not friends with you.

sarahseashell · 28/12/2012 19:14

yes only a matter of time before jealousy accusations [chat] it's not that though. I particularly think this to the ones with captions/commentary rather than just uploaded photos.

And yes to photos of food! just generally, not just from holidays. wtf Confused

Some people are just different to you and gain pleasure in different ways.

I like to take pictures as reminders and use facebook like a diary, you use it your way.

I don't think you are jealous, but I do think your judgement is unnecessary. If you don't like it hide it or delete the person, it's your Facebook so make it work for you instead of coming over to another website to bitch about someone who is supposedly a "friend".

It really upsets me to think that people are really this horrid about something that is just personal choice.

It might seem inane to you but when I see something I like, I take a picture, whether it be food or a tree or a vista or whatever. I can't picture in my head like some people do, it's to do with the way my brain works, likely HFA. I don't moan or bitch about what anyone else does with their time, because even with my social difficulties I recognise that we are all different and thus behave so.

Suzietastic · 28/12/2012 19:32

YABU it takes seconds to post on a smartphone!

magimedi88 · 28/12/2012 19:41

YANBU.

When I go on holiday I want to be unavailable to everyone except those I choose to holiday with.

I don't take a phone, I don't connect at all.

Two weeks off the planet is bliss - I'll send my pics when I get home.

I am old (& probably grumpy Grin ) but I just don't understand the need to be in contact 24/7!

garlicbaubles · 28/12/2012 19:43

Oh, god ... ! Well said, roooibos. These FB whiners have NO idea how lucky they are!! Xmas Grin
