6 times I've been out for naice meals since October.
6 times the chef has smeared an important component of my meal across my plate.
The biscuit was taken on Boxing day when MY MASH was smeared under my pork belly!!!
Stop smearing.
Piles of food are better.
A pile of mash is much preferable to a smear.
Disclaimer: I have had a run of 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays in family - that's why so many naice meals.

Ugh. That sounds horrible. A "smear" of potato....bad, horrible visions. YABU for making me feel sick.

WildThongonthesparklytree · 28/12/2012 00:36

Smears are fashionable dontcha know...

I also despise pretentious food

StuntGirl · 28/12/2012 00:38

What on earth is a smear of potato? Confused

WorraLorraTurkey · 28/12/2012 00:38

Ewww why am I imagining you with your legs in stirrups while the waiter scrapes the potato out?

Ok that'll be cos I'm weird...I'll give you that.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 28/12/2012 00:38

Eurgh. I agree with Fakebook....smear has all the wrong connotations, and a smear of potato sounds foul.

Bleurrrggghhh.

ChaoticforlifenotjustChristmas · 28/12/2012 00:41

Agrees with Worra that she's weird.

A smear? Xmas Confused

MichelleRooJnr · 28/12/2012 00:41

How else to describe it?
They 'smear' (sorry) some of the mash artistically(sp) across the plate.
Spread?
Like butter. Y'know - get some on a palette knife of something and spread it on plate.

Sorry for legs akimbo/potato images.

i don't want a smear of food, i want a generous portion.

WorraLorraTurkey · 28/12/2012 00:44

I agree OP what's wrong with proper bloody potatoes?

Smear my arse not literally please

Fakebook · 28/12/2012 00:49

The title reminded me of something boys in my middle school used to go around saying in year 8. They used to ask if you liked a grilled cheese sandwich and if you said yes, they used to burst out laughing and you'd be the joke because a grilled cheese sandwich was supposed to be an old woman's vagina. Confused

Have you ever watched Saturday Kitchen?

James Matin will put a dollop of mash (or something similar) on a plate and say "5 quid in a restraunt", the smear it and say "15 quid now"

ILikeWhisperingToo · 28/12/2012 01:09

I love serving up mashed potato dinner-lady-style, really satisfying, whacking big dollops on the plate Grin
