soontobeburns · 31/12/2012 01:11

Glad to hear it banana cant beat it at that price Grin

StuntGirl · 31/12/2012 01:47

If you think thats cheating I nearly put "Series 1 - 3" as just one of my options Grin

EmpressOfThePuddle · 31/12/2012 03:49

I've just finished watching Earshot. I AM going to bed now.

If I was a straight teenager I think I'd want to date Oz.

InNeedOfBrandy · 31/12/2012 06:46

I have finished season 1! Aw got all emotional at the end with buffy going off to her death, when she was saying to Giles im Only 16 I don't want to die I quit.

skaen · 31/12/2012 09:01

I love BtVS. I'm really looking forward to starting DD on it. DH and I rewatched it earlier this year for about the 10th time.
Favourite episodes:
Becoming 1&2
Conversations with dead people - terrifying
the whole of series 3...

last few episodes of season 7 when Spike is being all amazing

the Body
Once More with Feeling

Fantastic show. I'm not as into Angel but love Firefly. Serenity is the film based on the Firefly series pretty much funded by fans and is brilliant.

Joss Whedon has now been given some big stuff though - he wrote, scripted and directed Avengers Assemble (again there is some fun in spotting british swear words which passed by the censors) so he should be building up some serious clout for new series of Buffy/Dollhouse type stuff.

fairylightsandtinsel · 31/12/2012 09:05

its fab, but you may find you get more out the later series' when there is less high school angst! (though spike comes in series 2 so its all good from there!) Top episodes are Becoming pts1&2 (end of season 2), Hush (s 4) an the musical one (s 6) - though that divides opinion Grin

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr · 31/12/2012 10:06

Angel has also been reduced to £49 on Amazon - and Doctor Who's first 4 seasons (Eccleston to Tennant) to just £32.

BadPoet · 31/12/2012 10:27

Top 10 episodes? I will have to give that one some thought!

I downloaded and read all of season 8 on Boxing day, tbh am not sure. Some of the plot is just ridiculous, there's too much bringing back of old characters and I didn't like some developments. But it is still some excellent storytelling and can't change how I feel about s1-7 Grin

Hex is crap, sorry. And 8 is too young.

JakeBullet · 31/12/2012 10:42

Once More With Feeling
Hush (scary as hell)
Lots of Season 7 where Spike is just amazing.
Any episode which features Harmony as she is just hilarious.

1charlie1 · 31/12/2012 10:47

Love it! So does DH, and we're both the wrong side of 35. Between us, we actually had 3 complete box sets: his, mine, and mine at mum and dad's in my home country. We have since downsized to one...
On our second date, we were talking about our favourite shows. I just had a feeling he was going to 'confess' to Buffy fandom. And he did. Kind of sealed the whole thing for me! Such a special show.

OhDearNigel · 31/12/2012 14:40

he should be building up some serious clout for new series of Buffy

How I wish with my whole entire heart that there would be another series. But I believe SMG doesn't want to - which is the only real reason they haven't already done a film/new series :(

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr · 31/12/2012 15:33

A great review of the show

StuntGirl · 31/12/2012 19:34

I would actually be ok with no more series - I think it had its moment and anything more would ruin it. Americans often drag their series on for far too long, some times less is more. Series 8 doesn't even exist in my mind - I got as far as the faux-lesbian thing and gave the hell up.

OhDearNigel · 01/01/2013 20:06

I would also prefer no more series - I never read any of the comics, strictly a TV only girl. Obv I've seen the Kirsty Swanson film a couple of times, I would like to see a really good film (ie. not like the SATC which did not represent the series). The original writes are plenty up to the challenge having done several 2 parters. Only issue would be making the film a standalone project so that new viewers could understand it without 11 series to get to grips with the backstory !

A BtVS film would ideally involve one/more of these ideas:

  1. Exploring the ideas raised in Normal Again/The Wish of an alternate reality
  2. A different spin on "what happened next". Maybe focussing on Willow more, I think by series 6 she was by far the most interesting Scooby (well, apart from Anya but she's dead now)
  3. No Kennedy.
  4. Buffy never lived in Sunnydale, Joyce moved to Cleveland Smile
  5. No Kennedy
EmpressOfThePuddle · 01/01/2013 20:17

Casting would be difficult though. If they could get the originals back, the Scoobies grown up, that would be great. Alternatives.... really not so sure.

One of the things I notice about the actors, especially Sarah Michelle Gellar and Antony Head, is just how expressive they can be without saying anything. Like when Buffy's back from the city and Giles is alone in his kitchen, his body language is very understated but you know that inside he's leaping up and down and cheering.

OhDearNigel · 01/01/2013 20:23

I think it's always SMG that's the sticking point. Most of the other cast members do lots of fan events and have been quite upfront that they are willing to be involved in any new projects. Not sure about AH and SG either, they have gone on to forge quite sucessful post-BTVS careers.

AboutThyme · 01/01/2013 20:53

Are all the series on lovefilm instant? Will sign up for it if they are

OhDearNigel · 01/01/2013 20:58

yes

JakeBullet · 01/01/2013 20:58

All seven seasons are on LoveFilm. Smile
I am watching an episode a night at the moment. Brilliant series.

OhDearNigel · 01/01/2013 21:06

which one did you watch tonight Jake ? I watched Touched and First Date (both s7 but not consecutive) last night, going to watch Same Time, Same Place in a minute even though I find it horrible

EmpressOfThePuddle · 01/01/2013 21:10

I heard SMG wasn't keen.

I'd love a Willow spin-off, though. Or Giles.

JakeBullet · 01/01/2013 21:12

I'm on Season Two and watched the one where Ethan Rayne is introduced for the first time.

I only saw season seven for the first time in September and was bereft when it ended Grin .

Loving Spike and Drusilla again.
