OP posts:
StuntGirl · 28/12/2012 20:02

You want me to pick just ten?! Jeeeez ok... (in no particular order)

1. Welcome to the Hellmouth
2. The Body (gives me chills even thinking about it)
3. Tabula Rasa
4. Amends (for the hilltop dialogue alone)
5. Normal Again (probably one of my top 3. Amazing writing)
6. Storyteller (Andrew!)
7. Superstar (Jonathan!!)
8. The Gift
9. The Wish
10. Ted

So hard to narrow it down! I have a particular soft spot for the whimsy of the first few series, but I love how it grows and matures the whole way through.

For me, actors I recognise in other programmes fall into two categories - appeared in Buffy and appeared in West Wing.

Imagine my confusion when both the Mayor and Principal Flutie appeared in West Wing Grin

LaVitaBellissima · 28/12/2012 20:09

Yes I loved Charmed too Smile

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr · 28/12/2012 21:31

For all the Spike fans:

BsshBossh · 28/12/2012 21:53

I too watched Buffy the first time round in my mid-late 20s and into my 30s then bought all the seasons on DVD. I couldn't get enough of the show. I loved Buffy herself (she could kiss ass!) and had a girl crush on her but I fancied Spike something rotten even though he wasn't my (real life) type at all (so I thought!).

I haven't watched it in years so this thread has inspired me to dig out the DVDs again and have a private Buffy fest. Just need DH to go back to work and resume his long days so I can watch at night after DD is in bed.

Very excited!

BsshBossh · 28/12/2012 21:54
  • kick ass (not kiss ass!)
degutastic · 28/12/2012 21:57

wanders in, wonders why ANYONE would think watching Buffy (or Angel) would be inappropriate at any age...

wanders out and digs out DVDs for a re-watch Grin

and to perve over Angel, Spike AND Giles

FeistyLass · 28/12/2012 22:20

My nephew called me last year from the Edinburgh Festival to say 'Guess who I've met? He used to be in Buffy . . .he has blonde hair . . .'
I was soooo excited because I thought he was going to say James Marsters but alas, no, it was Tom Lenk (Andrew).
Still, I was the only other member of the family that was a Buffy fan and could appreciate why he was excited.

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr · 28/12/2012 22:26

Had to post before I go to bed. Ignore the random subtitles Hmm

sashh · 29/12/2012 00:51

I like the one where Buffy gets psychic and finds out her mum did Giles

You had sex with Giles?

You had sex with Giles on top of a police car?

Twice!

StuntGirl · 29/12/2012 00:54

Ahahahaha puppet Angel Grin

BuffyFairyTopsTheTree · 29/12/2012 00:54

Ooh a Buffy thread! YADNBU OP. I luffs Buffy. Fantastic one liners.

We've just got love film. I feel a Buffy fest coming on.

snowtunesgirl · 29/12/2012 00:56

OP YABVVVU to not have watched it until now. Grin

snowtunesgirl · 29/12/2012 00:58

StuntGirl, you didn't pick Hush? Shock

StuntGirl · 29/12/2012 01:09

I was discussing this earlier with a fellow Buffy geek connoisseur. I really, really like it but I don't think it will ever have a special place in my heart. Plus it has Mr Cardboard himself in it Hmm

AND I realised after I posted that I left out Selfless Shock So I have decided to have a Top 11 instead!

snowtunesgirl · 29/12/2012 01:10

Top 11 is cheating!

ALittleBitOfMagic · 29/12/2012 01:12

Original and best teenage vampire phenomenon Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 29/12/2012 07:37

I've met Anthony Stewart Head!
Twice!!!
He was luffly Smile

TwllBach · 29/12/2012 09:20

I've seen the best and the worst of you. I understand with perfect clarity, exactly what you are. You're one hell of a woman.

I adore spike. The way he just held her. The way he just knew her and the way he just accepted, at the end, that she would never love him

He was a better man than angel - he chose to fight for his soul even when he was a vampire - angelus couldn't give two hoots about it when he was evil, not even for Buffy.

I thought season seven was fine, but mostly for the acting of the Scooby gang. That episode where xander talked to dawn about always being on the sidelines and never being in the limelight - that was beautifully done. I loved anyas speech about humans, too.

I also liked how even the main characters weren't likeable all the time. Buffy was incredibly self righteous a lot of the time, even if she literally did save the world a lot. Dawn was whiny. Giles became needy and cowardly when he realised he wasn't the only adult anymore. All the characters had flaws, and I think that just made it all the more real.

Gah, I want to stay in and watch Buffy

Binkybix · 29/12/2012 09:41

Right...Buffy it is when I've finished Angel!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 29/12/2012 10:28

There was something about spike!!! Angel was hot but spike had that edge I think. That one where Buffy was invisible and spike was caught with his pants down was hilarious too.

soontobeburns · 31/12/2012 00:22

So do I buy it? £35 on amazon for all 8 seasons and got a £50 gift voucher for xmas.

I love supernatural, hex (yes it is good), tru calling, vampire diaries, the secret circle etc. So will I like it?

soontobeburns · 31/12/2012 00:32

Sorry 7 seasons.

snowtunesgirl · 31/12/2012 00:33

Oh God, absolutely! You know without Buffy, there would have been no Eliza Dushku in Tru Calling.

BananaBubbles · 31/12/2012 00:33

£35 on Amazon? Where? I can't see it.Sad
