StuntGirl · 03/01/2013 19:49

Nope he's a Yank. Brilliant accent.

TwllBach · 03/01/2013 20:02

YY I remember bring genuinely scared of Glory. That scene when she's on the bench with Tara was so upsetting.

TwllBach · 03/01/2013 21:48

I am in the awkward position of wanting to do both Giles and Xander.

Mostly Xander. Xander is like my ideal husband - by the end of the series, obviously.

As I recall, Giles gets a bit pathetic somewhere in the middle of the series.

TwllBach · 03/01/2013 22:15

Ohhh and spike and drusilla have just rocked up. They're lovely together

InNeedOfBrandy · 03/01/2013 22:17

Oh twll I'm about 3 episodes in front of you!

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 03/01/2013 22:18

I just wanted to do Spike Grin You know he'd have you hanging from the chandeliers Wink

TwllBach · 03/01/2013 22:28

I plan on starting early tomorrow - hopefully ill be on season three by the end of the day I'm considering cancelling a lunch date

TwllBach · 03/01/2013 22:30

Even when spike was bad he did things to my insides.

Cordelia is actually very pretty.

InNeedOfBrandy · 03/01/2013 22:30

I have to wait for dc to be in bed before I can watch any Sad

I'm watching the Halloween one with spike ATM

EmpressOfThePuddle · 03/01/2013 22:31

There's a lot more to Cordy than I remember. She actually grows and develops too, & it clearly hurts a hell of a lot when she catches Xander with Willow.

JakeBullet · 03/01/2013 23:54

I was devastated when Cordelia left....didn't think the series would be the same without her. Of course it was fine but remember really missing her.

StuntGirl · 04/01/2013 00:21

I loved Cordy too, she was another brilliant example of character development. Shame they totally ruined it in Angel :(

Series 2 is awesome brandy, I hope you're enjoying it Grin

Earthymama · 04/01/2013 00:26

I watched Buffy with my son when he was a teen.
DP And I watched with our neice when she was a teenager. Now we are watching with 15year old DGS1 when we have the GC overnight. We watch 2 episode and DGS loves it!!
We talk about all sorts of things afterwards. We are only on S3 so lots of lovely Spike and Witch Willow to come.
We have 4 more DG, the 9 and 7 yr olds are already planning to watch when they are 14, it is a Rite of Passage in our family. Grin
You can do a MA in Buffy Studies in US I think?
Can you imagine, it would be wonderful to really study in depth.
Buffy is the best TV ever.
I am so jealous of all pf you who are watching the wonders of Buffy for the first time.

TwllBach · 04/01/2013 07:44

That must be amazing for joss whedon, don't you think? To
Know that you have created something worthy of studying.

JakeBullet · 04/01/2013 08:06

Oh definitely....it's so worthy of study on many levels...women's issues, philosophy and even religion.

I watched the episode where Kendra turns up .....and we are beginning to see Oz for the first few times Grin.

Spike and Drusilla are hopelessly in love...quite touching if they were not crazed vampires.

Actually some of the best stuff has Spike in it....I will never forget the episode where he is trying to stake himself in Xanders basement because he has to wear one of Xanders shirts.Grin

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 04/01/2013 14:13

I actually went to an academic Buffy conference at Norwich University. And I once used a transcription of Spike and Glory to teach speech acts with particular reference to insults!

Discovered Buffy at Season 5/6 (Beeb and Sky) - so picked it up in an interesting order. Instead of 'who the fuck is Dawn and where has she come from' I had 'where is Dawn then?' when I saw the early ones.

EmpressOfThePuddle · 05/01/2013 13:24

I watched Choices last night. I think having the benefit of at least some hindsight helps, even though I'm coming from only having seen some of the 6.45 episodes.
On the one hand I love the way Willow's going, on the other I know where it's taking her...

InNeedOfBrandy · 05/01/2013 13:33

I watched the one where the demon Giles and his friend had summoned came to get them. First time it properly scared me Blush I actually jumped and (I think it's dawn, the it teacher yes?) really really scared me such good acting. I slept with the hallway light on.

EmpressOfThePuddle · 05/01/2013 14:05

Oh yes.
I was thinking I'd like to see a spinoff about Giles as Ripper, they were talking about one a while ago. Then I thought I'd like to see more about Jenny (IT teacher, Dawn comes later) and her background. And I'd love Willow to have her own series....
Ha. In other words, those characters are so well drawn that I want to know more about all of them.

JakeBullet · 05/01/2013 14:06

Watched the two parter in Season 2 where Kendra turns up. Hideously bad accent by the actress but having read up about this it seems as though the accent was a last minute thing she ws told to do worth no opportunity to practice it. She's on record as saying it's appalling and she hated it.

The musical was amazing. I'm not letting myself jump forward though.
just saw a Buffy annual in a £1 shop, I had a quick look and there were badly drawn picture stories of them charging off on various adventures. Weird.

JakeBullet · 05/01/2013 14:49

Once More With Feeling.....amazing episode. Grin

StuntGirl · 05/01/2013 14:54

Empress - the series actually continues in comic form.

EmpressOfThePuddle · 05/01/2013 15:00

I know, and I'm going to explore that when I've watched all the TV episodes.

This wasn't that, though. the story I looked at had Willow, Tara and Dawn going off to the beach.
