. . . to a bloke who has changed his name from a perfectly good one to a reeeeeally stoopid one, and who works for his uncle on a pointless vanity project.

Yeah flame away, I know I am being U. I expect he's lovely. Or something.

But if I was her Mum, I'd be "Kate, Kate! Let your Aunty Ivy set you up with a nice suitable boy!!

She's a one, isn't she? I particularly love her ad for Sky - so much emoting.
I agree with Nancy66 re her being a total bloke's bird. I imagine her saying that women just can't seem to get along with her... Odd then that she's stil friends with Emma Thompson, who clearly is a beacon for all that is good and nice in the world, albeit a thumping great luvvie as well.

Very catty comments on this thread
Who said she's been around forever? Hasn't she just appeared?

mutantninjamyrtle · 27/12/2012 18:41

Went to college with first husband Jim - he was a lovely bloke, very funny and good fun... someone who changed their name to something stoopid while young might be excusable, but to keep said idiot name in his 30s Xmas Hmm?

ravenAK · 27/12/2012 23:09

'She might have twins and then you could use both those brilliant names!'

Twins would have to be Sex and Drugsand, surely.

FatimaLovesBread · 27/12/2012 23:16

Just appeared Hmm

Peggotty · 27/12/2012 23:17

MN doesn't like Kate does it? . I've always thought she was ok and gorgeous. Never got an other-women-hating vibe from her at all. I can imagine her being very luvvie and gushy but not bitchy. Having failed relationships doesn't make her a bad person.

ChristmasNamechangeBridezilla · 27/12/2012 23:20

Richard Branson's son would have been a much better choice. He's a bit of alright, him.

Thisisaeuphemism · 28/12/2012 09:01

I like Kate. Her husbands name change however suggests he is a twat of the finest order.

PeppermintonCandyCane · 28/12/2012 09:05

I liked her when she used to make my lunchtime sandwich in a deli in Reading...or it could've been her sister...or I may have made it up Confused.

Anyway, good on her for being true to her heart.

Moominsarehippos · 28/12/2012 09:20

I don't actually think I've seen her in anything. I think I get her muddled up with Helena Bonham Carter and Rachel Weiz. They all look the same to me and I don't tend to watch 'Big' movies (never seen Titanic, etc).

Moominsarehippos · 28/12/2012 09:21

But I would insist on hubby changing his name back though. It sounds like something you'd do as a drunken stunt as a teenager or for a very large bet.

ifancyashandy · 28/12/2012 09:26

I've always thought she looked like a girls girl. But if she were my mate, I'd tell her that dress in the Wiki link makes her boobs look flat. Coz I'm a girls girl!

She smokes rolly's. I like that about her.

hackmum · 28/12/2012 09:32

Never mind his name, he has the most vacant expression I've ever seen outside the chimps' enclosure at Whipsnade Zoo. The phrase "light's on, nobody's at home" was clearly invented for this man.

What WAS she thinking of?

Moominsarehippos · 28/12/2012 09:48

'he has the most vacant expression I've ever seen outside the chimps' enclosure at Whipsnade Zoo.'

Wahhhhahahahahah! Very funny!

JingleBellaTheGymnast · 28/12/2012 16:00

I like her. So there. Grin

SugaricePlumFairy · 28/12/2012 16:19

Yes he has that gormless look about him .

He's got a weak chin!

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/12/2012 16:19

Yanbu He is obviously a try hard bellend.

WhatWouldSantaDo · 28/12/2012 16:29

I think it's a fun name. Why does everything have to be so serious? It's just a name.

LessMissAbs · 28/12/2012 16:34

Aw! I was thinking at least he was good looking, and I wouldn't mind waking up next to him, despite the name (he can always change it again). Unlike her previous husband.

BalloonSlayer · 28/12/2012 17:02

I like her too. Dislike of her wasn't the point of the thread.

It was: if she was your lovely and talented DD and she brought him home, wouldn't you groan at the "Attention ATTENTION look at me and what a cool Dude I am" name. And then you hear that he works in the Space Industry, and are quite impressed; thinking he must work for NASA and thus be super-intelligent. You then discover he actually works for a stupid bloody space programme owned by Richard Branson, who cannot even run a train service. And then it transpires that in fact Branson is his Uncle, so he didn't even get the job on his own merits, so is after all significantly less burdened in the brains/employability department than you had first thought... it would just be teensily disappointing.

Crikey, BalloonSlayer, no. I wouldn't think negatively of his name, I'd think how fun and non-conformist, well done that man. It would make me smile. And I wouldn't care what he did for a living (as long as he wasn't something awful like a slaughterhouse worker, or a butcher). I would hope my daughter had found happiness and love.
