To not agree to see The Hobbit until I've seen all three films of Lord of the Rings?

Or am I completely confused over what comes first in the chronology of their storytelling?

YABU, you dont need to have seen the others to enjoy the Hobbit - go in 3D

EmpressMaud · 26/12/2012 10:23

The Hobbit comes before LOTR.

the hobbit comes before the 3 lord of the rings films so go and see the hobbit then watch the lord of the rings films

DorsetKnobwithJingleBellsOn · 26/12/2012 10:24

As above.

hattymattie · 26/12/2012 10:24

Technically, The Hobbit is the pre-history of LOTR. So you can see it first. Like that you'll understand a bit about how Bilbo came to have the ring. Even though you only have the first film of the Hobbit it fits perfectly before the LOTR trilogy.

Allergictoironing · 26/12/2012 10:24

Story telling The Hobbit comes before LOTR, The Hobbit is the story of Bilbo finding the Ring, LOTR is the story of his nephew Frodo's adventures with the Ring.

TheSecretSantaDNCOP · 26/12/2012 10:27

Actually the silmarillion comes first, but that's really really dull!

FreyaFridays · 26/12/2012 10:28

YABU for not having seen the LOTR films!

lottie63 · 26/12/2012 10:30

look!

EmpressMaud · 26/12/2012 10:44

The Silmarillion isn't likely to be made into a film. Though I'm glad, in a way.

Agree it's helpful to have a little background, especially when they're discussing Beren and Luthien in LOTR.

YABVU.
What everyone else said.
Enjoy it!
