The excitement of Christmas is over...pressies opened, rubbish cleared away, dinner eaten and washing up done.

The twinkling lights on the tree are just mocking me now.....
I want to take them down!!

DH is half-Ukrainian so our decorations stay up until the 6th January when we have a big dinner. It doesn't normally bother me but I didn't get into Christmas at all this year so I'm pissed off with the decorations already.

I always take mine down on NYD. Big clean up then roast beef meal so to start the new year off we have a clean house and full bellies!

Trouble is people put their decorations up too early and then can't enjoy Xmas. Put them up around 24th and enjoy all over the festive season.

Theicingontop · 28/12/2012 09:32

I put mine up 23rd and took them down yesterday. Yes, I am a massive humbug.

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 28/12/2012 09:34

See, I knew it.

I told you all so, you just didn't listen.

It's all because you started too early.

ffs, it's only sodding December, and you want Christmas to disappear.

Mine are coming down tomorrow! Just in time for all my sons birthday celebrations :)

melika · 28/12/2012 09:48

Decs stay until 5 Jan, cards may go before. What is the hurry, especially because it's nice for the children to feel and know the 12 days of Christmas.

This is where it has completely gone wrong!

judefawley · 28/12/2012 10:32

Ours went up on 7th. Far, far too early but we were having a party.

I have just said, 'shall we take the tree down?'

Got a resounding 'NO!'

fatlazymummy · 28/12/2012 11:00

I take mine down whenever we feel like it,usually depending on how many times the tree has been knocked over. Some years it's just after Christmas, some years it's the 5th of january. We don't celebrate New year or the '12 days of christmas'.
Will probably take them down tomorrow, but if it's dark and gloomy outside then I will probably leave them a little bit longer.

peeriebear · 28/12/2012 11:26

Baby Jesus will come out the telly and DROWN YOU IN HIS TEARS if you take your tree down!!! :(:(:(

That's the beauty of living in your own home, as long as you all agree you can do what you like!
