The excitement of Christmas is over...pressies opened, rubbish cleared away, dinner eaten and washing up done.

The twinkling lights on the tree are just mocking me now.....
I want to take them down!!

YABU!
So, so YABU
We only do a tree and a few candles here and there but they look fantastic. They'll come down on 12th Night.

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 27/12/2012 13:59

I did mine yesterday nananananaaa to all those who can't wait to take them down. Now I'm going to change my living room around As I have the space now!

peeriebear · 27/12/2012 13:59

I still have everything up- I love it and want the kids to have as festive a holiday as possible. I remember the flat feeling of coming downstairs to see the decorations had all been taken down- I don't understand the urge to get it all packed away ASAP. Christmas shouldn't be a chore to be ploughed through then ticked off! :(

Ours came down yesterday. They have been up since the beginning of December thanks to the mother in law. It's bliss we have our space back...

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 27/12/2012 14:08

I know usual, a terrible thing to tidy your house and make room for the new stuff. Dusty decorations everywhere bring out the Sad faces.

MerylStrop · 27/12/2012 14:09

Why bother with them at all if they are going to come down so soon?

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 27/12/2012 14:11

don't do it. It's bad luck and may cause you to die Sad

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 27/12/2012 14:12

hey, I did an ironic Sad and turns out all have been doing real and proper what about the chiiiiilllllldren Sad's. Who'da thought it

Did you peak too soon?

Startail · 27/12/2012 14:15

YABU
Now until New year is the nice bit of Christmas, no visitors, therefore no cleaning, no tidying and no stress. DHs work closes until Jan 2nd so we can all sit back and watch the blinking lights.
Bliss!

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 27/12/2012 14:15

I think it looks more miserable having them up after Christmas instead of a dust free clutter free sparkling house.

Butter, my tree's not dusty. Only been up a week.

Much of the rest of my house is dusty though.

Narked · 27/12/2012 15:44

I suppose it depends if you're religious/your family are religious. Decorations stay up until the Epiphany - the 12th day of Christmas.

Fluffy1234 · 27/12/2012 16:06

I'm taking my tree down on 2nd January and may take the cards down tomorrow. I love looking at the tree in the evening so am in no rush to get rid of it.

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 27/12/2012 16:13

12th Night is on the 5th of Jan, not the 6th.

zeeboo · 27/12/2012 16:28

I'm lucky to have married into a Swissgerman family and their tradition is that the decorations must be down by midnight on NYE or you face a year of bad luck.
I'm part American so follow the tradition of decorating as soon as Thanksgiving is over so our decorations have been up nearly a month now. We'll take them down this weekend.

12th night is on the 5th.
12th day is on the 6th.

Night proceeded day in days of yore. Nice explanation here

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 27/12/2012 16:40

Preceded

Decorations should go up the weekend before Christmas and stay up util the end of 5 January. Can't abide this current nonsense of putting them up early in December and then takin gthem all down before Christmas is finished.
