To wish that DH hadn't bought the bloody Kinect and games

We nipped to a supermarket yesterday to buy a couple of last minute bits. We already have an X-box and whilst we were there DH suggested we bought a Kinect and some new games so we could all have a bit of fun playing it over the Xmas period. I was all for it as our 3 DCs, who are spread out in age, would all get use out of it, as well as DH and I.

We got home, and DH set it up, and then subsequently started playing it with the kids and got in a terrible mood with all the DCs when they didn't do it as they were meant to or when they didn't do what he suggested. I was in the kitchen and all I could hear was DH's voice bossing them around (he is v. competitive). We then had two visitors and DH sat glued to the damn thing the whole time. Then was in a bad mood for the whole evening because he said the kids had been badly behaved, but they hadn't, they just took time to learn how to play all the new games.

Fast forward to this morning, and he is still in a bad mood. And has played X-box from around 9am and is still playing now! Whilst I do everything! And is in a snappy, uncommunicative mood.

Wish we'd not bought the fucking thing tbh! He's off for 2 weeks now and I'm damned if I'm going to do everything the whole holiday whilst he plays computer games.

Husband is banned from the X-Box, PS3, Wii and computer games until after food, or all he would do all day is get stroppy that we got in his way.

A word of caution, make sure that your security settings are strong, and that any chat functions are disabled on children's accounts.

i dont believe for a second that he hid this apsect of his personality from you all these years and it only came out when the kinect was plugged in.

in other words the kinect isn't the problem. your twat of a DH is.

You're right Santa, but I'm cursing the Kinect as if we hadn't have got it he wouldn't have had a new toy to play with so wouldn't have spent so much time sitting around. But yes, he is being a twat.

if he's being a childish knob, then treat him like a child and hide the, erm, thing that he needs to make it work Grin

my ds got his first console today and when my mum arrived to see him he ignored her at first as was playing a game so i switched it off and hid the controller thingy. he'll learn. manners.

Um, why not just tell him to get away from it and help you? My DP has a new game for the PS3 but will not play it till I am at work tonight and the DC are in bed.
