My gorgeous, generous mum and dad have given us a lot of cash for Christmas to buy a new laptop and tablet with BUT they've given it to us in two wooden puzzle boxes that we can't open!

Dh is stubborn unwilling to admit defeat and call them for help and is about to take a hammer to the things

Can the collective wisdom of Mn help?

Is it a box you need to find the key and then open, shake it can you hear a key like rattle ? If so google Moroccan puzzle box , loads of how to on u tube

(hopefully your parents won't have done what mine usually do and lose the instructions - which also means you can't reassemble and pass on. Rubbish!)

A couple of years ago the pils gave us one of those puzzles that go round a bottle of wine. They didn't put it on properly and when we picked the bottle up it fell straight off!!

I'm sure the trick with these is to slide rather than prise. One of the surfaces will slide out if you push in the right direction

My dh googled it while I was in the shower impatient grabby so and so
