Awww... milk the hormones excuse as long as you can. Personally I'm ready for the end. I don't think we're even going to get satisfaction of a proper battle between M&M. And I bet Merlin stays an old fart for whatever battle they do have, how dull!

They could have strung a whole 'nother series out of the shock of Arthur accepting Merlin had magic but obviously not destined to go that way.

I have not liked the show for at least two years and that finale left me cold.

Especially the last scene.

Such a shame indeed. Would've been good to see Arthur gradually accept and embrace magic. Perhaps final battle between Arthur with Modred with Sword in the Stone and between Merlin and Morgana magic flying all about Voldemort style. Or other way around.

Dh and I are quite disappointed with the ending. Would have preferred Arthur to have embraced the magic and allow it back into the kingdom.

Feel very disappointed with that ending but then I haven't been as keen about this series as the previous series!

The plot to every single episode this series has been

"only the blue fairies have that kind of magic, you must get there in two days before its too late"

I was looking forward to the last episode as the last two haven't been bad. Sadly it sucked donkey balls and the last scene was just utterly vomit inducting.

pulledmuscle I normally cry at anything remotely sad on tv. I was sobbing uncontrollably at the last episode of Spooks but I was dry eyed watching the ending of Merlin tonight.

Is it only me who thought there was a whole homoerotic bromance going on all the way through? Also, didn't Guinevere's boobs get a bit of a boost in the episodes she was evil? There was some serious corsetry going on there! I liked the way the series sort of occasionally touched base with one of the more traditional strands of the Arthur myth, bringing in "characters" that do get a mention in the older versions, like Nimue and Mordred. They had to kill Arthur off in his prime if they were going to stay remotely "authentic". No version of the myth has him and Guinevere living to a ripe old age with loads of GC. Can you imagine her on MN? AIBU to think that my DH should stop gallivanting off in flimsy chainmail and help me with the sodding castlework??

It's gone massively downhill over the last two series and I think they've done the right thing in ending it now.

There's only so much disbelief anyone can willingly suspend and that boundary was crossed far too many times this season.

Goddamn it though - NOT Gwaine! He was almost as fuckable hot as Lancelot. Almost.

I thought the funniest bit was when the sleeveless one who looks like Freddie Flintoff burst out of the ropes he was tied up with - the entire reason his biceps were cast is revealed I thought Gwaine dying was sad cos he felt he'd failed Arthur (Oh dear, I may have got too much into this )

I thought at one point Merlin was going to kiss Arthur and not even joking. He kept leaning over him and getting very close to his face and it kind of made me cringe as imaged my Dad watching it downstairs with his teeth clenched and then burst out laughing.

V sad it's over but definately could've been done a lot differently imho.
