To wonder why the hell people feel the need to post awful videos.

I clicked on a video from a friend earlier and it was of a little Chinese 2 year old girl getting run over by a van with both sets of wheels. She then lies there and 8 different people drive/walk around her. Then another can comes and runs her over. It's horrific. I feel physically sick and now can't stop crying. I stopped watching before the end, I just watched it opened mouthed expecting something to happen, for someone to save her. But no one did and she died. Why the hell do people feel the need to share these videos around? I feel like I need counselling now!

That was on the news a few months ago, with the video and everything. I couldnt watch it. The description was bad enough.

Sadly that poor little girl died some time ago. Like several months, maybe a year, if not more.

Why not ask the friend why they shared it? Get them to have a think about what sharing videos like that achieves.

I did confront her and said she should be warning people at the very least. She apologised and said she hadn't thought but who does she still feel the need to spread the misery? It's not even like its related to some cause or charity. It's circulating purely for people's voyeuristic fun

I watched one yesterday with a child being slapped around by a man. He was only little - it actually made me feel sick.

I can generally guess what the video is going to be about, so I don't watch then hide/defriend.

myBOYS I think that ones on my fb too, I haven't watched it. There was also a picture of a dead baby in dumped in the rubbish. I had a bit of a melt down at the person who posted that one.

Who knows why they do it, because they are insensitive and stupid probably.

Why? Not a scooby! My mate sent one on in an office. Sent to a person by mistake with similar surname. Got sacked. Extremely well deserved. Vid was nowhere close to funny.

Some people are under the misguided impression that they are raising awareness or helping to catch the perpetrator by sharing these videos. In truth, most of the videos are years old and sharing them just creates shock value. Maybe the people who are sharing them should apply for jobs as reporters on the Daily Mail where their intentions will be appreciated.

Sometimes it's a virus. People dont know they posted it. There's loads of them.

I've seen the one you are on about op, it is horrendous. The one I saw showed a dog being hit by a car first & then being dragged out of the road by another dog. It is supposed to show awful the human race is, and how animals have more compassion than us. I agree completely.

Even if it's a virus, you'd have to click on it in the first place in order for it to be shared on your wall.

If I ever accidentally did this (which I haven't so far) I would quickly delete it and then post a message apologising to all my friends and warning them not to click on it.

Personally as long as these videos come with a warning I don't see a problem. These horrendous things are happening all around us every day. Yeah I don't really want to see it either, but if there is some kind of warning first I can decide if I want to watch it. Most videos posted on Facebool tend to be awful.

I've had it before when I've been "tagged" in a pic by a friend do naturally click on it. Normally I'm on my iPhone so it takes a while to load and I cancel out again. When I check later I see the friend has posted (often unknowingly) some weird clip. Had I been on lap top I'd have accidentally shared.

Often they just show a "bet u can't watch this clip for 20 seconds" header and there's not a clear idea of what it's about.

If your like me and have fat thumbs I click things by accident anyway. Have accidentally hit report loads of times

I'd probably just message friend and ask if they knew about it and warn them what it says on news feed. They r awful by sound of it :(

Report it to youtube as thus stuff contravenes their guidelines. Although the one if that poor girl has been around fir a long time.

Odd how they removed a clip which looked like it was showing a bit if breast, but feel it's ok to show children being abused or dying. Youtube should be ashamed if itself.

And I don't feel these are to "raise awareness". We all know it happens, and don't need to watch it.

I'm totally with you OP. My FB friends were recently sharing the video about the Vietnamese teenage mum battering her baby. Lots of hysteria, "has anyone told the police?" and worthy cries of horror and sympathy for the baby. But it all happened last year and the mum went to jail. I agree it is voyeurism, and in the long term I think it will actually be counterproductive to stopping cruelty.
