To be fed up of being ill (warning: pity party)

I'm so fed up.

I'd just got over coming down with norovirus two weeks ago. Felt back to normal, enjoyed a night out, started having dairy products again.

I had two days off sick from work and being ill ruined my annual leave I'd booked to prepare for Christmas - consequently nothing has been done, no decs up, no presents wrapped.

Thought I'd make a good start on it all over the weekend.

Then I came down with the heaviest cold I've ever had on Friday night. My nose is running like a tap, my sinuses are agony, I'm running a temperature and I cannot sleep.

Got sent home from work today after colleagues told me I looked like shit and doubt I'll be there tomorrow.

Just so, so fed up and feeling very sorry for myself. Can't get into anything Christmassy and starting to stress about everything I've got to get done :(

DD has sent me a lovely text saying "I felt gud all day at school the bugs have gone!!!!!!"

She was ill all last week and very fed up.

Why on a phone with a qwerty key board we get text speak, I do not know. Gud indeed, set one English and you write gud?

Hope Acky and cunting that u feel gud soon 2 Xmas Wink

Well, it's a veritable buffet of illness in this house...

I have a hurty throat/aching limbs/shivers, DS has had sickness/fevers/cough and DH (who is iller than DS and I combined Hmm) has stomach craps and flu-ey feelings.

:(

Acky123 · 17/12/2012 18:57

Thanks Startail :) Hope I feel gud too, as Christmas is going to be cancelled at this rate.

The Cunting household sounds hideous, you poor peeps :(

I've never had a cold like this, it's a proper stonker. Reminds me of the sort of cold I used to get as a kid which made my nose scab up.

I'm thinking of eating a really hot curry to blast it out, this Lemsip isn't touching it.

Get well soon.

It's horrible being ill but it seems worse this time of the year

MsElleTow · 17/12/2012 19:03

I've got DS2 with a chest infection and impetigo! DS1 has a hacking cough and a cold, he's not fully recovered from whooping cough he contracted in September.

I've got hardly any voice and a tickly cough. I am supposed to be having 7 steroid injections into my hips and pelvis under GA tomorrow, but don't know if they'll do it now!

Get Well Soon everybody!

Oh I feel your pain. It absolutely sucks. I'm finally just starting to feel a bit better after horrid cold, sinuses, headache, limb ache and shivers. I had to take to bed all weekend and leave dh to sort dd and the house. Felt pathetic though especially as I read an article about single mums in Addis, Ethiopia having to walk miles for water, spend hours preparing food and basically work nonstop 18 hours a day, and I felt so stupid that I can't even cope with a cold in my house with running water, heating etc. but I really couldn't get out of bed. Feel like such a moany wuss but don't know how to snap out of it Sad

ReindeerOutdoors · 17/12/2012 19:11

I didn't mean that to sound as worthy as it probably did. Sorry you're all ill it is really shit, isn't it?

CailinDana · 17/12/2012 19:12

I've had a cough since September, interspersed with norovirus, and 4 or 5 colds. I'm currently on an inhaler for the cough and my throat is killing me. I actually sat on the toilet and cried the other day thinking if I coughed once more I would just jump out the window. I thought the cough was getting better at the weekend but then I coughed so much yesterday that I threw up my entire lunch. I look like a zombie from constant illness and lack of sleep. DH is sleeping in the spare room because he just can't sleep with the amount of coughing I'm doing and I miss him at night :( I'm also 30 weeks pregnant. I am so incredibly fed up I can't describe it.

quesadilla · 17/12/2012 19:18

I can beat this: DD has had a cough since October which finally morphed into a nasty virus (adenovirus, according to the fifith and final doctor I saw who would actually give me a diagnosis). I was off work for five days with this, went back for a morning and then came down with tonsilitis which I have been off work with for more than six days. Its been hard to swallow or breathe for about four days. Then yesterday, just as the antibiotics were kicking in I went down with severe conjunctivitis, so severe I can hardly open my eyes. Oh, and did I mention that a) my DH is currently on the other side of the world and b) my boiler broke yesterday too and its cost me a shocking amount to mend. Sorry, but at the moment I feel like throwing in the towel.

MamaMary · 17/12/2012 19:23

I can't remember a weekend in the last 7 weeks when I haven't been ill.

I have had 2 chest infections, an asthma attack, one ear infection, a cold, a kidney infection, a tummy bug. I've been admitted to hospital once and kept in 4 days. I am 34 weeks pregnant.

quesadilla · 17/12/2012 19:26

MamaMary I bow to your worthiness and superior illnessiness.... I thought I had the monopoly on being ill.

Acky123 · 17/12/2012 19:31

My god, some of you are really in the wars :(

It's just hideous. I've not been ill all year and I was so pleased.

I can't go back to work tomorrow, I just can't. And they're so obsessed with sickness. More hoops to bloody jump through.

Thank you quesadilla. Grin

It really must be true that your immune system is suppressed when you're pregnant. Last winter I wasn't sick once.
