To just wish DD3 would stay asleep when I put her in her Moses basket?

DD3 woke at midnight for a feed and have spent about 2 hours trying to get her.back down... The second she's on her back she just looks so uncomfortable, starts wriggling then wakes up. She is swaddled which usually helps but not tonight... Just want to go back to sleep.

Starting the cycle again and feeding again... Hope this doesn't last another 3 hours!!,

My daughter even at 14 months doesn't like sleeping on her back, place her on her side and she'll sleep 12 hours straight.

Ah I remember this feeling! Have you tried raising the cot slightly so its tilted? She may well just be very uncomfortable lay flat with a full tummy, or just wants to be near you.. My current baby refuses to lie flat altogether as she has silent reflux, so sleeps with me / at a tilt.

Good luck

It's so frustrating. She has a cold as well which isn't helping. She'll sleep on me quite happily but I don't feel comfortable... Just want to go back to sleep.

About to swaddle and try again... Positive thinking otherwise I might burst into tears... Keep telling myself it doesn't last long!!!

I thought about asking environmental health to issue a noise abatement order to baby dc,

Do you think if I begged them they would?

CaliforniaSucksSnowballs · 17/12/2012 03:35

I hope you got her back down and are sleeping yourself already. I used to put them on the side swaddled and wedged so they couldn't roll onto their front and tilt the bassinette so the head was raised slightly, it works if they are a little stuffy.

peaceandlovebunny · 17/12/2012 07:26

well, she's programmed to call for you if you put her down, its her survival instinct. answer, don't put her down.

TeamBacon · 17/12/2012 07:37

Aww how does that help the op? She has to put her down sometime.

OP - try cuddling her and the moses basket mattress together. It will be nice and warm and won't be such a shock when you put her back down.

iloveholidays · 17/12/2012 14:12

Thanks peaceandlovebunny... Does that mean I'm never allowed to sleep, surely that's a survival instinct too?

Thanks for the other suggestions, no doubt will be trying them tonight!!

Our DD3 is nearly one and will only sleep in our arms even in bed shes clung on to me. Weve tried everything to put her in her own cot to no avail apart from cc im against that but weve decided to just go with what keeps her happy

SantaWearsGreen · 17/12/2012 14:58

Co-sleep??

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 17/12/2012 14:59

have you tried raising the head end with a towel?

sometimes that helps if they're blocked up.

forbiddenfruit85 · 17/12/2012 15:00

All babies I know hated their moses basket.

I offered to give mine to my sister, she refused and bought a brand new one and the baby only slept in it a total of three times.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 17/12/2012 15:43

I have visited many hundreds of homes with new babies during my work as a bf supporter. I have seen many many Moses baskets. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen a baby happily asleep in one!
Basically new babies like to be held, you just have to find a way to con them into thinking they are still being held once you have put them down in their crib/cot/moses basket. Unless you manage this feat they are unlikely to sleep for long!

MmmnoodlesoupIsDueXmasEve · 17/12/2012 15:46

I've heard putting a water bottle in to warm it before they go in helps?

iloveholidays · 17/12/2012 15:50

She'll happily sleep in her bouncy chair during the day which I'm doing at the moment as its keeping her raised a bit. I didn't have this problem with my others providing they were swaddled. I got her down in the end, but long old stint!! Exhausted today :(
