Loads of TV ads on for various supermarkets at the moment but I have only seen one with a black person in it.

Please tell me I'm wrong and I just haven't seen all the ads.

In TV ads Christmas is only celebrated by good looking white middle class people with beautifully decorated homes.

YouSeveredHead · 16/12/2012 08:39

I can think of more than one, my two favorites in fact. The dad who rocks up with a bottle of bubbly for the harassed mum cooking dinner and the son who decides to give his mum unscented bath type stuff after watching his dad all over his mum cause of the smelliest she got the year before. I know they sound crap but they make me laugh.

Sorry know that wasn't the point of your post but these two always make me smile and I generally hate Xmas ads.

I thought this the other day.

bradywasmyfavouritewiseman · 16/12/2012 08:49

I have seen a few.

sashh · 16/12/2012 08:51

bugger it didn't look right, but I'm dyslexic so often words don't look right,

Glad there are some ads I must have missed and it's not as bad as I thought.

What Lynette said.

TheNebulousBoojum · 16/12/2012 08:58

Agree with Lynette, especially about the economics.

I beg to differ - there is a loan shark payday loans company advertising Christmas money with what can only be described as Vicky Pollards cousin shown as a satisfied customer.

bradywasmyfavouritewiseman · 16/12/2012 09:01

lynette must be right and the rest of imagines those ads.

Mia4 · 16/12/2012 09:05

I watch more DVDs than TV and mainly BBC ones when i do so i've only seen 4 of them: the JL snowman one, the Asda taking mick out of JL one, the one with Stacey from Gavin and Stacey and Tesco so I couldn't say that it's disproportionate or not because i'm presuming there's a lot more. But yes white people tend to be more predominant in commercials anyway.

Oh and Amazon's 50 shades one but pretty sure that's either a joke or just online.

TheNebulousBoojum · 16/12/2012 09:09

Holly, that's because you can't possibly celebrate Christmas properly without all the trappings of a MC Christmas, even if you can't afford it.

bakedbeanqueen · 16/12/2012 09:10

Yes but they miss out all sorts of areas of society, not just black people. I think you have to take the advert for what it is, an advert for Christmas, and not complain that it doesn't try to show every ethnicity/disability etc just to be PC.

FeckOffCup · 16/12/2012 10:18

Slight hijack but is Stacey from Gavin and Stacey pregnant? Saw her ad the other day and thought she looked it in one shot.

Mia4 · 16/12/2012 10:24
