You would label the man as a knife

And woman as the fork.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 15/12/2012 18:34

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 15/12/2012 18:35

As soon as i read that i got an image of a male knife and a female fork.

VeganCow · 15/12/2012 18:35

eh??

peaceandlovebunny · 15/12/2012 18:36

that's obvious. but i don't know why.

laughinglikeadrain · 15/12/2012 18:37

what is it in french?

Id say male knife.....

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock · 15/12/2012 18:38

really catgirl? why? Confused

in my mind it has always been knife=male, fork= female. maybe influenced by the sounds they start with though.

the spoons are the children Grin

greenshaker · 15/12/2012 18:38

I was asked this and my immediate thought was the knife would be male and the fork female.

I have no reason why though Confused

OP posts:
Rindercella · 15/12/2012 18:39

Yep, same as you OP.

mayorquimby · 15/12/2012 18:39

You can slot the knife into the fork between the prongs
So knife=male

catgirl1976geesealaying · 15/12/2012 18:40

The knife is slender and sharp (woman for me)

The fork is a bit more..um.........prongy, a bit less sleek, less elegant, blunter. (male for me)

Although having said that I know a lot of men who are utter spoons

FellatioNelson · 15/12/2012 18:43

Male is knife, because the shape is slightly phallic.

Fork is female because the shape is more of a receptor.

FivesGoldNorks · 15/12/2012 18:43

knife=violent=male
was my first thought
having been surrounded by non violent males my entire life, that surprises me

Viviennemary · 15/12/2012 18:44

Without hesitation I thought male is knife and woman is fork. Oh dear wonder what that means!

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 15/12/2012 18:45

This discussion is forking ridiculous.

greenshaker · 15/12/2012 18:47

Did you also know that spooning leads to forking?

OP posts:
RabbitsMakeGOLDBaubles · 15/12/2012 18:47

What;s a spork then?

catgirl1976geesealaying · 15/12/2012 18:48

spork = Transgender

bluebiscuit · 15/12/2012 18:57

Knife is taller. Knife therefore male. Average male taller than average female.

Justreadthefuckingwords · 15/12/2012 19:15

Knife - Male, aggressive, cutting, slicing, serrated, pointed, singular. Necessary for meat.

Fork - Female, curved, gentle, multi-functional, clears up the mess the knife has made - can be used for puddings.

No argument really.

Iteotwawki · 15/12/2012 19:22

Knife is male symbolically in many rituals. Bowl is female & fork has slightly curved bowl-like shape.

Plus what jrtfw said :)

Aspiemum2 · 15/12/2012 19:25

Jrtfw, that's a great description! I automatically thought knife = male and fork female but I don't know why especially as a lot of women I've met lately are the knives in someone else's back

Softlysoftly · 15/12/2012 19:25

Have you been shopping at David &Goliath op?

KittyFane1 · 15/12/2012 19:26

For eating food: Knife (male) useless without the fork (female).

MissMogwi · 15/12/2012 19:27

Straightaway I too thought knife = male and fork = female.

If I think about it, it's because I think women hold things together and are supportive. Not that men aren't of course.
