Agreed my 37 yo thinks he is still a teenager DP would come back by 3am this morning due to the fact we have to go to our MILs house which is a 2 hour drive away. We have a lot of work to do to prepare for our wedding celebration at this location, including painting our little house that we have built there. DP has come in trollied at 5am, there is no way we are leaving the house at 9am as agreed, considering he will still be pissed by then, and it is zero tolerance in the country we live in. Not to mention the fact I will refuse to get in a car with him while he is still under the influence. AIBU to set two alarms for 8am to wake him up at the time we planned? I actually feel like putting a claxon to his ear! Why is it that some men just never know their limits or can be responsible drinkers when it comes to alcohol?!

Yanbu! If he is very drunk at 5AM he won't be ok to drive till this evening. 3AM wouldn't have really made it much better. Do you drive?

I would say get him up and get him busy at home making breakfast and doing jobs.

If it's zero tolerance........then methinks you have a very very long wait !

doesn't matter what the 'tolerance is'. With that much blood in his alcohol stream and no sleep, he should not be behind a wheel for two days.

MrsKeithRichards · 15/12/2012 10:50

He'd still have been unable to drive now even if he got in at 3am

You need to call your MIL and tell her exactly why you won't be there as planned.

Then hand the phone to your husband.

peaceandlovebunny · 15/12/2012 12:12

don't let him drive. do wake him early and give him a great deal of fried bacon for breakfast.
have a bucket handy.

JenaiMathis · 15/12/2012 12:52

Drive yourself, surely?

Dozer · 15/12/2012 13:01

Drive yourself, or don't go.

BluelightsAndSirens · 15/12/2012 13:05

Do you drive?

Was it a Christmas work party or just a random stay out till 5am, where does one go till 5am?

DontmindifIdo · 15/12/2012 13:14

did you wake him?

Drive yourself, call your MIL to explain the delay.
