Seriously, pack it in.

I know you do good for the school yadda yadda but it DOES rather cheese one orf when one has being waiting for 30 minutes outside school to get a decent seat and then one finds that PTA wimmin have reserved all the good seats for them and their DHs/children's siblings. Then said PTA wimmin waft in 2 minutes before the performance starts.

You want a good seat then put the work in, m'kay? Kfanx. xxx

after wonderful compliment from Baubles - Thanks! Xmas Blush
Not sure about the longevity of my master plan though, I'm not sure you'd be able to do it every year? Xmas Hmm

Jins · 13/12/2012 17:39

Jingleallthejay Me too!!! I did all that while the alpha PTA members flicked their hair around and told everyone how advanced their DC were and did fuck all in the way of work.

I realised after a while that I must have mug tattooed on my forehead and resigned along with a couple of others. The hair flickers crumpled under the pressure.

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 17:41

thf we ony had 1 hairflicky mum and she would muck in although she almost fainted when a little one was sick at an event and I handed her some gloves and paper towels Xmas Grin

iamapushymum · 13/12/2012 17:43

I have had kids at 4 primaries over the years and never heard of this , it's always been 1st come 1st served

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:45

iamapushymum with your user name, I'd have thought you would be elbowing your way right to the front Wink

Gingerodgers · 13/12/2012 17:45

Ooooooo bitter bitter bitter, a very unattractive quality, and so ugly.

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:46

I've never forgiven Alpha PTA mum for elbowing me in the mums' race at Sports Day.

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:46

"Ooooooo bitter bitter bitter, a very unattractive quality, and so ugly."

Makes for a lively thread though.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 13/12/2012 17:48

I can't wait to be a PTA mum! I'll have ropes up reserving my seats and a bouncer to turn people away!

I imagine I might be the cause of a few threads on here! Mwah ha ha ha ha!

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2012 17:48

Has any parent of a child at First School not been bitter about something though? By year 4 it was my default setting unless something otherwise happened.....

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 13/12/2012 17:49

I won't be doing the mums race a sports day though!

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:50

I've got two terms to go and the whole primary experience will be behind me. Already disengaging as we speak.

LtXmasEve · 13/12/2012 17:53

DH always seems to get a good spot at the nativity - that's because non-one wants to sit next to a ...man

Grin
jimmenycricket · 13/12/2012 17:54

PTA was really quite close to PITA. Grin

I agree wholeheartedly OP. Frankly, I have paid out £20 for a costume, £5 on programmes and 'donations' and then spent £5 on cakes for my children's school nativity plays. The PTA hasn't actually had anything to do with the nativity, they do fundraising and the teachers have organised the whole bloody lot.

but they still drag their elderly crusting relatives in and plonk them in the front row (and before you jump on me I said elderly, not disabled, they were fairly sprightly when it came to get to the mince pies afterwards Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2012 17:56

Oh yes, forgot about the parents of people on the PTA getting the good seats too Grin

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 17:58

lol @the blatant agiest comment that old crusty may have short sight or a bit deaf and they smell a scone or mince pie from a mile off Xmas Grin

jimmenycricket · 13/12/2012 18:03

Yeah I'm ageist, but I reckon the two older ladies in wheelchair resigned to row four felt the same.

VivaLeBeaver · 13/12/2012 18:05

Best seats are at the back. Nativity plays are dullsville and I can mumsnet on my phone at the back.

IvantaOuiOui · 13/12/2012 18:07

I commented on another post on here yesterday that our PFA NEVER get decent seats for anything as Mrs Gobshite with the three kids at our school will always complain long and loud. When my daughter randomly won a raffle hamper one year, Mrs Gobshite accused me of fiddling it. I have been PFA secretary for one hundred years and we get moaned at constantly because events get cancelled due to lack of help.

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 18:08

but the ladies in wheelchairs would have been able to see unless they are in teeny tiny chairs so low to the floor that they couldnt see, anyway i was being light hearted and daft people complaining cos they cant get to the best seats confuse me it is just a seat you can shift about so you can see the play or whatever

DowagersHump · 13/12/2012 18:11

MissKeithLemon - my PTA rejected my help on the basis that I couldn't attend PTA meetings.

Do you really pay for a babysitter to go? I suppose I could but it seems a bit desperate to effectively pay to join :o

ImaginateMum · 13/12/2012 18:12

DowagersHump - that's terrible! There must have been some role you could have done that didn't need you to attend meetings.

IneedAgoldenNickname · 13/12/2012 18:14

The head teacher saved me a seat at the assembly today, and I'm not on the PTA anymore Grin

CwtchesAndCuddles · 13/12/2012 18:15

Both my dc schools only reserve seats in the front row for Governors but if they did reserve seats for those who give up hours of their own time to support the school I wouldn't have a problem with it!

I'm a governor at ds school and love being able to sit in the front row - it's a small perk for all the hours spent in meetings each term. (I'm also chair of the PTA but that brings no perks only a lot of work).

DowagersHump · 13/12/2012 18:16

It's not that awful, honestly :o but I have offered to help with loads of stuff - I think there are lots of mums where I live who have a fair bit of time on their hands. Also they did give me a table once at the highly competitive nearly new sale and I had to pull out because I had to go away on business at the last minute

I think my card's been marked :(
