Seriously, pack it in.

I know you do good for the school yadda yadda but it DOES rather cheese one orf when one has being waiting for 30 minutes outside school to get a decent seat and then one finds that PTA wimmin have reserved all the good seats for them and their DHs/children's siblings. Then said PTA wimmin waft in 2 minutes before the performance starts.

You want a good seat then put the work in, m'kay? Kfanx. xxx

Genuinely lolled at Elvis.

ImaginateMum · 13/12/2012 17:24

Agree no need for it to be the front middle. That is usually for disabled parents at our school, which makes sense. Sometimes governors, etc, also often teachers who are madly signalling to the kids so they don't forget their moves...

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2012 17:25

They should have the back row. They will need to get out and get the tea urn warming up at the end.

MulledPinot · 13/12/2012 17:27

Just screw up the reserved sign and sit on the seat.

Gwan.

Dare you

P.S. I think you'll find the PTA help with the school play. Or so I've heard...

SallyCinnamonandNutmeg · 13/12/2012 17:27

It doesn't work like this at our school either. Thankfully. Agree it seems v unfair Baubles and I would be really annoyed at this too.

Especially in view of the fact the PTA don't help at the play! (Just in case anyone missed that point or doesn't believe you perhaps you need to mention it again.) Xmas Smile

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:27

I don't know why I'm even on this thread. Kids are well past nativity stage.

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 13/12/2012 17:27

"Well shouldn't they be entitled to reserve seats because they help out with the play?"

Oh they are entitled alright...

YANBU

I help out at PTA events - just done catering at christmas fair - it was hell and I am parent governor. Would not dream of reserving a seat - its wrong!

As far as I'm concerned its first come first served. I much prefer being the naughty one at the back anyway.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2012 17:29

Mine too Mardy but I can still feel the unfairness of it all. Sad Spent many an evening/afternoon admiring the back of the same people's hairdos every December. Angry

ElvisIsKing · 13/12/2012 17:29

Don't think op will mardy Grin

We can't reserve seats at ours an the PTA don't help out at the nativity; not even a cup of coffee!

toddlerama · 13/12/2012 17:29

If they aren't helping with the play (are you sure about that?? Xmas Grin) how are they getting in early enough to reserve the seats? Or are staff reserving them for PTA?

I'm imagining some kind of super-clearance level for PTA who get to swipe in via secret entrances. Disclaimer: my kids are homeschooled...

ImaginateMum · 13/12/2012 17:30

DS had a Christmas event today. I had a relatively decent spot, having got there early. Two women came up to me and said "excuse me", walked past and stood directly in front! Might try that next time...

ElvisIsKing · 13/12/2012 17:30

Jokes baubles!

MardyBra · 13/12/2012 17:31

Yes, why can't they build a bloody stage.

ElvisIsKing · 13/12/2012 17:31

I'm on the PTA

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2012 17:31

Anyway why aren't they helping with the play? they should be shouldn't they?

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 17:32

they probably volunteer to come in early or something to bag the best seats thats what I did when I was on the Pta about a hundred years ago but i was helping, the secretary and chairperson did nowt but bagged the front row Xmas Hmm

BegoniaBampot · 13/12/2012 17:32

Our PTA this year couldn't get enough helpers for the kids Christmas party, they are also probably faffed off with everyone having a go at PTA parents. Our school wouldn't have a lot of equipment and nice Christmas fairs, summer fetes exactly without the PTA. This year they are faffed off and for the first time the kids don't have their annual Christmas party/disco/Santa etc. I've never been a member or helped out and now everyone is moaning about the lack of party. Go figure.

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 17:33

I'm imagining some kind of super-clearance level for PTA who get to swipe in via secret entrances. Disc

we all had a secret special entrance nobody knew about Xmas Wink

Jins · 13/12/2012 17:34

I'm shuddering with the memory of how hideous and alpha our PTA members were.

Doesn't happen now DSs are at High School. PTA put on a BBQ and sell raffle tickets at Christmas and we don't know who they are.

ElvisIsKing · 13/12/2012 17:34

I'm on the PTA

DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn · 13/12/2012 17:35

There's a definite PTA type.

Yes, the type that doesn't mind doing shed loads of work for no thanks but a lot of whinging from other parents.

ProtegeMoi · 13/12/2012 17:35

Makes 2 of jakebullet

Feel very proud of my reserved seating, although not so proud when DS shows the rest of the school why I have it.

Growlithe · 13/12/2012 17:35

At one of ours, PTA chairman had a reserved seat at the centre of the front row, when his child was not even on stage, but in the choir which was sat along the side of the audience. Xmas Confused

Jingleallthejay · 13/12/2012 17:36

I wasn't alpha beta or omega when i was on the PTA i was usually running about like a loon or mopping up juice at school discos Xmas Hmm
